My sentiments exactly! I'm glad we concur. Thanks Gina for the lowdown on the tickets. I'll likely buy mine tomorrow after my doctors appointment when I'll know if there will be any conflicts with further surgery.

I got a concert reminder about The Specials show today! Is anyone else getting excited yet?

I checked and there are still tickets left for the Saturday show, but not the Friday one, should anyone decide to join the invasion. Buskerfest is going on that weekend too. The Specials and all the fire-eating unicyclists you can handle all in one weekend! How tempting is that?

Maybe we should start figuring out where we'll hold our meet-up. Any ideas, Toronto Nutters? Any preferences, conroy and the Cats?

The Keating Channel pub and grill is kinda close and sounds cool and reasonable: http://www.keatingchannelpub.com/menus.html but I'm up for whatever native Toronto residents recommend

Conroy, that pub looks pretty good. I've never heard of it before, but it's one of the new places down in the Portlands. The thing about the concert's venue is that it's in this part of town that was kind of derelict until recently. They're working at redeveloping the area and making it a place to be. They did so very successfully in the area just North of the Portlands, known as the Distillery District. But the trendiness of the Distrillery District comes at quite a price. The Keating Channel pub sounds much more reasonable than any of the places just to the North. Also the menu has a lot of vegetarian choices. It even offers the Supercat's favourite vegetable--calamari.

I'll try to drop by the place next time I'm near that part of town.

Unfortunately our schedule is so crammed that we will be arriving next Sat, the afternoon of the Specials show. A series of important meetings were just announced for Fri. causing us to have to change our travel plans and only be able to be in town the afternoon and evening of 8/28, heading back out the following day.

Gina, I'm sorry to hear that the visit will be so short, but I'm very glad that you made the effort to squeeze the trip in. We'll just have to party doubly hard on Saturday.
Do you have tickets for the Friday show that you'd like to sell? If so, let me know and I'll see if I can be of some local assistance.

I just read there is a comic book convention there next weekend at the convention center. The guests include among others William Shatner, Michael Dorn, Leslie Nielsen, Adam West and Burt Ward.
