The end of The Police: A fond look back...

Just as a tidy up: The back-end-of-a-car picture posted by Charlie is Sockii rummaging in the boot (that's what we call a trunk in england), dirtymartini, Ana, Analia, and Dietmar. That's three continents and four countries. Add in Takeshi from the next photo, and you've got four continents in a car park. Drummer Dave & his magnificent partner were around as well so that makes five.

Which numpty forgot to invite representatives from Antarctica?

I swear every time I look at photos from that week I can't believe I was there, and wish it could be done again with people I love who weren't.

Smudge, I hate to quibble, but I do believe that the "boot" picture has representatives from five countries. Ana and Analia are from South America, but ones from Uruguay and ones from Argentina.

Such good memories! I hope we can get together a fair size herd of folk in Dallas in February, and have another grand time.

Random question. I am watching The Police Live In Concert (Rio de Janiero 12/8/07); since I have never been to a Police Concert, and haven't been to a concert since the mega-concert concept became the gold standard (HUGE venues, video feeds on LARGE screens around the venue) when you're in the audience, do you look at the stage (real people, just sometimes very small and FAR away) or watch the HUGE screens (larger than life comingsoon to a stadium near you!)??? What is the reality of that experience like and is everyone really standing up the entire time???

I am loving these trips down memory lane and I get the thrill you all must have experienced to be among Nutters at THE concert(s). Albeit, not as thrilling, but I'll take it.

Depended on how close I was to the stage. If I was further away, I definitely watched the screen way more than the stage. If I was within 12-15 rows of the stage, then that was all it was about, for sure.

It was weird, though. Some of the shows that I found the most memorable for musically, I was further away and really could only concentrate on the music and the screens, which created a bit of distance. The first Philly show in '07 and the Holmdel NJ show near the end were like that for me. When I was so close up, I'd get so fixated on watching the details and the guys that honestly the overall experience of the music could get lost. Not saying I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything, though, as especially the last show, for me, was far more about being there with all the Nutters and certain interactions with the band that could've only happened so close up.

But it's like...on one hand I regret that the only show I was able to take my mom to (and she is a die-hard Police fan like I am) was Philly '07, where we had shitty seats up in the bleachers. But she loved it and thought it was perfect, because the performance was so great and all we could concentrate on was the music. (And as she bluntly put it, "I want to remember them the way they looked in the 80s...so I'm going to listen to the music and keep my eyes closed anyway!")

The whole thing was a weird experience. I'm just glad I got to experience it from all kinds of different vantage points, from the first row to the nose bleed seats.
The tall guy in the green shirt is making me crazy. Aside from being omnipresent in the photos, I remember he's from the West Coast and husband of the nice lady he's with. Their names allude me, but they have exquisite taste in clothing for tp.com'ers. (Go green!)
That tall guy in the green shirt makes me crazy all the time so I guess I have to claim him.
That is my husband and enabler Mike. I'm the one in the green stripped shirt in the picture from Jones Beach.
Anyone who came to the pre-party at Annie's most likely got a CHA wristband put on them by me that night.

P.S. Charlie wanted me to let you all know that he got locked out of his account and will be back as soon as that is all cleared up.
