Some pics/ clips from Cinequest

Hi- new to this site for posting but not new to the band. The only Police show I saw was the Oakland Synchronicity stadium show- with Madness, The Fixx, Thompson Twins, and Oingo Boingo. (I actually won "backstage passes" to the show from MTV - but the only band we met was the Thompson Twins). I have seen Stewart at NAMM over the past few years doing signings and checking things out. But fast forward to tonite- we in the SF Bay Area were lucky to have the Cinequest film festival present Stewart with an award- and - we got to have a screening as well as a Q and A. Here are some pics and clips-

Stewart was kind enough to take the time to pose with the fans and sign pretty much everything we had (before and after the event)- here is a pic I took of/with him-

It was a fun night and great to hear Stewart answer questions.

And to completely change the topic for a second-here are some pics from Andy Summers' recent signings here too -

THANK YOU!!!! This was awesome!!!

Stewart's obviously so jazzed up about all this, it's really fun to watch it. Never dreamed we'd actually get a chance to hear his whole speech! (How'd you get that photo you took at the Andy reading signed the same day...?)

(And how great is it that they both signed ALL your stuff...though I have to admit I'm not a bit surprised ;))
On Google - site:stewartcopeland.net "your keyword here" - thanks DM!!

Cinequest

Postby bret6262 on 04 Mar 2007 19:36

If you search You Tube for Cinequest there is a very long link to his speech yesterday from a better camera (someone had a professional camera set up no the lower right side).

I actually got to say hi to Stewart before and after the show. Some people got some stuff signed at about 1pm (his award ceremony/ showing started at 5) as he was walking around the area. I saw him right before the show, and then right after.

Andy Summers did 3 signings in the immediate area here when he was on his book tour. I was able to go to 2 of them (both in San Francisco) and I had friends (who couldn't make it) who wanted books so I got to go through his line a few times over the 2 signings. The final one he did in SF was very uncrowded- I was really surprised (especially now a couple months later they are selling out the massive Oakland stadium). So the signed Andy pic was taken at the 1st one, then signed a few days later. I got to chat with Andy briefly in SF at the final signing, asking about his new guitar. He smiled and gave me a long answer about it and how it will be very expensive and that he is very excited about it, etc.

This has been quite a week here locally- I was able to get a couple things signed by Bono in Oakland on Friday as he made a fairly secret appearance (intil the last minute) at a church for an AIDS conference.

Cinequest

Postby Jennie on 04 Mar 2007 21:13

Hey Bret -

I was there yesterday too. Now I'm kicking myself because I brought my copy of "Everyone Stares" but just thought there were too many people for signing. I went out afterwards and was talking to my friend about Stewart and someone overhearing me mentioned that Andy was at a bookstore in Alameda (where I live) in October signing. So now I'm kicking myself doubly hard for missing that as well. When you saw Andy, did he talk about the book at all? Or just sign? I suck! (Although yesterday was awesome.)

Hi- Andy read from his book (various sections that he had flagged), did a Q and A, then signed. I missed the Alameda one but did the 2 SF ones.

Hey Bret,
I met you outside after the screening. I was the one with the drum head. Thanks for posting the pics and video. My pics all turned out pretty bad due to the low light onstage. Stewart was kind enough to sign the drum head. He looked suprised by the crowd seeking autographs.

Your drumhead was a great idea. I saw someone had a small one. Stewart signed that "will work for food" type sign also for that 1st guy.
