Guess I am giving you guys a perspective of what goes into making a song hope you like my long winded speech diary (at least what I remember) ..lol
Ok Chapter 2,
So to do a Stewart Copeland Idea drum riff or not? Well dam it sure sounds good let me just give it a whirl.
Cut the drum track on the second take...it's the only thing that has survived the original inception Once I laid this drum track down I knew it was really happening.
So time to re-cut the bass track again gotta make sure it locks in tight with my foot. Wow I am really unto something OHHH CRAP THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE POLICE!!!! And how can I fix this? IT CAN"T SOUND LIKE THE POLICE IT JUST CAN"T...UGGGGHHHHH!!!
Well it's good enough to bring in the guys ...I love the honest candor I get from them...so far I have never heard a "Jon, man this sucks" so that is a wonderful feeling sure I am on borrowed time for that...lol
You know what screw it...I am not gonna show em this. I'll just play the guitar and hammer it out with my voice...these gents are very creative maybe they can come up with something...It would be wrong to force them into the Idea I had.
It's always nerve racking for me to bring an Idea to the table. What if they don't like it? How will I feel if it's rejected? I have labored over this...they better not slap my child in the face lol. Hell Jon, it's just a song big deal.
It is a big deal, this is to the most influential drummer in my life and it's "GOT TO BE RIGHT" no exceptions.
Well the moment of truth...and??? Green light or back to the drawing board? Verdict is in it's a "green light", but the lyrics are not your finest effort. Was that his way of saying my lyrics suck?...Hmmm maybe he's right after all I did write the lyric very quickly...let's do a rewrite on that.
