Other Concerts

I'm going to see Retisonic and Cursive tomorrow night - pretty excited about that. The drummer from retisonic is a HUGE Stewart fan.

Derek Trucks was awesome! I must admit I was disapointed when I noticed a wedding ring. lol

I wonder if we might not ought to start ginning up mix discs for each other. I've got some stuff I'm pretty sure some of you would really dig.

I am pretty psyched - one of my all-time favorite local bands, funk legends The Dynamites, are playing Bonnaroo this year. We just found it out. More info here:

Going to see the Hoodoo Gurus in Chicago in ten days or so...not sure what else is on for the summer yet. Will probably catch a Wilco date, since they're sure to play here..May go to the Decemberists show in April. Probably also Antibalas, TV on the Radio, and the Noisettes.

Oh, Dive, that reminds me, I kept forgetting to tell you about this great band from DC that moved to Nashville a few years ago called Last Train Home. The main singer/sonwriter used to be a music critic for the Washington Post. I saw them at Iota Cafe in Arlington a few weeks ago for the release party for their newest CD. They have an alt country sound and this one song called "Dogs on the East Side" that is amazing when they do it live.

That would be cool, I have some stuff I'm sure you would like aswell. Of coarse I would be using YouSendIt or something similar to send it.

Lol I thought critics were suposed to be complainers with no talent themselves.

Conroy is there a reason you feel that way about wedding rings? Not that I don't think your right...

Boo... I just found out that Bloc Party with Biffy Clyro supporting has sold out both nights in London. Boo boo and thrice boo.

I like Dive's idea of doing mix CDs for each other. We all clearly have wildly differing music tastes outside of The Police/SC/KK so it could be pretty mind-broadening for us.

Bloc Party kicks ASS. They've only played here one time, which also sold out in minutes, but I understand from the attendees it was worth the gamble to get tickets.

Maybe we ought to start a 'now playing' thread. I'm listening to a comp Hub picked up which is out of this world. "Ghana Sounds - Afrobeat, Funk & Fusion in 70s Ghana"...

I think I've heard of those guys, conroy...will check it out! Thanks.

Dive, you said you were going to see Manu Chao. We are neighbours here in Barcelona and some years ago we almost crashed. I was riding my motorbike and he was riding his bicycle in a very dangerous way. Nothing happenned but I hope somebody else take him to the concerts.

I've seen Foreigner in July in Montreux! Great gig, I didn't expect such a great concert! But don't expect any surprises or re-arrangements like Police does... Foreigner "just" played an energetic, 80's style, classic set that rocked the house!

Cheers, Daniel
