First TPT Contest Up

Postby GinaSuperCat on 02 Mar 2007 19:32

Ahh thanks for the clarification, that answers my question surely--I have not used them yet but have just been a browser :)

I read over their guarantee quickly and saw the "Your tickets will be authentic and valid for entry" and thought they must be validated but ya, after reading the fine print (lol) the recourse for a problematic ticket involves a refund, but they do have a number to contact them immediately from the venue if there's a problem with your ticket...

Anyone interested, the guarantee referenced here is at :
http://www.stubhub.com/fanprotect-guarantee-legal

I have noticed that some of the ebay no-reserve auctions have actually gone for *under* cost (ouch) and am keeping my eyes out on both ebay and stubhub for some good deals...looks like they may indeed be possible! Of course, ebay is a-whole-nother ball of wax and although sellers do have 'guarantees' I'm not sure exactly how you can rest assured for any recourse if there is a problem...although feedback rating is somewhat indicative of the reputation, etc.

Just an an aside (before I bow to sockii, who is wise, and demonstrates such pretty often), I had a problem with a purchase on Ebay lately and boy howdy, they really do have a good system set up on Paypal.

I had bid on and won a jacket that's a certain make and model of one that North Face manufactures, and when it arrived in the mail it was pretty obviously a Chinese-made fake. I emailed the seller, who pretended he got the jacket from some third party, but got nowhere with him until I contested the purchase with Paypal (I had taken photos of the jacket and kept a good record of the date I mailed it back and what day it was received, so I knew I had a case.) Full purchase price refunded, except for the return ship.

I also use Amex for nearly every purchase I make, because they've treated me right on contested purchases as well (Paypal does this thing where they bug you to use your bank account - probably to save themselves some $ per transaction - but you don't have nearly the consumer protections doing that or using a debit card.)

Sock, you're probably right...it's not like there are not going to be hiccups and glitches in the system. I'm kind of a believer in karma, so if this purchase doesn't work out for some reason, another one will (and I think Stubhub would be a fine way to go as well). I probably will hold off a little longer on plane tix and a hotel room, although I probably will also log on tomorrow at 10 to see what's avail. in the general admission sale.

Good for buyers, yes, in general, though you do have to remember that their refund/dispute window is limited to either 45 or 60 days (I forget which at the moment). Beyond that and they won't help you with a dispute. I know I had a problem last year with a t-shirt order (::cough::won't mention which site ::cough:: but it wasn't THIS one) and I got nowhere with the seller until I began a Paypal dispute...miraculous how fast my merchandise suddenly appeared. So if you buy a ticket, pay for it with paypal, you might want to wait until you're less than 45 days away from a concert date if you're at all worried, to make sure you're in their protection window.

I will say though that as a seller though, you're pretty well screwed over by Paypal if someone wants to start a *false* dispute with you...or decides to dispute a purchase through their credit card...Paypal is definitely set up as a buyer-is-always-right default. If you sell any tickets or other merchandise through Paypal, make sure to send it using Delivery Confirmation as that is the only protection you will have from Paypal if someone wants to claim they never received merchandise from you. And don't leave money sitting in a paypal account, because if a buyer wants to dispute something they will immediately seize the money from your account with them...they can't do that if you've transferred it to a regular back account already. (I run an ebay business, so paypal and all this stuff is something I'm probably more familiar with than I want to be...)

Just to jump in this discussion a little late, and a few posts behind....

Last year, I bought nine Chicago Cubs tickets from TM on the day they went on sale -- a group of 6, and a group of 3. Unbeknownst to me, TM had a "per household" limit of 6. My credit card was initially charged for all 9 tickets. However, they eventually credited my credit card the amount for the 3 tickets, and I was unable to print out the 3 tickets via email because, well, I never received an email confirming the 3 tickets. It was my pretty solid understanding that one would not get an email to print tickets unless they cleared the "per household" requirement. So, if I may extrapolate a bit, it seems to me that if one gets an email to print tickets, one has passed the "per household" requirement.

Of course, I don't know if this applies to the Police concerts. I actually called TM and was told it was up to "the vendor"; which I guess would be Best Buy or the TPT fan club. This may explain, though, why some folks are getting inconsistent outcomes.

Don't know if this helps, but it seems to me if you get to the point where you can print tickets, those tickets ought to be fine.

Thanks all for the comments regarding ebay, although I have dabbled here and there for drum stuff and things here and there I actually just set up a small side-business there in vintage clothing within the last week and this info, especially about Paypal is very helpful...I always try to protect myself as best as I can with what I can control, but these things are always good to keep in mind...

Best luck to everyone getting tickets (and with transactions still in progress)!

Ha! I'm browsing while waiting for TM to find seats for the Dallas show...I've only gotten to look like four times, the wait times are 11 and 15 minutes...so far nothing better than my 15th row tix, which TM says are being printed (crosses fingers)

Friend of mine got 300 level tickets today for Dallas and is pretty happy with that. Didn't want to spend big bucks on the high end tickets.

I may regret trying to sit on the floor, I also got a 100-level ticket...going to dither a while longer and decide.

Can't get the seating interactive thingy on AmericanAirlinesCenter.com to work (probably a Mac issue). Anyone here get it going?

Dive 10th row and back (never been closer!) isn't worth it's price tag, you can see much better from the nose bleads.
