Went to SD and then the Troubadour last night for the album launch. Both shows were fantastic; Taylor was obviously quite nervous before going on in San Diego, but once the show started he relaxed and seemed to have a great time, I know I did!
The new songs sound fantastic, but then I knew they would; when he described this album as being like him having sex with his record collection, I said to myself, "yep, I'm gonna like this."
Special guests at the album launch included Mr Elliot Easton from The Cars, playing on Not Bad Luck and a cover of You're All I've Got Tonight, and my other favourite drummer & Taylor's best buddy, Mr David Grohl, playing drums on Your Shoes and a Foo cover, Cold Day In The Sun. The band is taping Jimmy Kimmel tomorrow night so I'm off to that performance, and am considering a drive up to Santa Barbara for Saturday night's show, if I can rope in my enabling friend again.
Is rock dead? Yes. But I believe in necrophilia.-DEG.
