Just curious...

1)How many of you had a Klark Kent Poster/Record/Cassette/or badge back in the day/say circa 1978-80?

2)How many of you followed his career religiously and tried to buy up everything you could back in the day/ say circa 1977-1984.

3)Ok, now how many of you "after The Police broke up" continued being a zealot for his work...and went to extreme lengths to get things that were rare and very rare?

4)How many of you have original pressings of say Rumble Fish, The Rhythmatist, and Wall Street etc and bought them when they were released.

5)How many of you jumped on The SC bandwagon ...lets say since the 90's.

6)Now here's the kicker...do any of you own Freudian Slip?

This is all I am getting at....all of us are Copeland fans...and sharing should be the ethic around here not hording and gloating.

Case and point ...someone on here got an original "The Rhythmatist's Tour Shirt" from me, cause they have shown the ethic of sharing.

And if many of you did the same thing no telling what you might get from others.

In closing, my motto is to share and share alike...and some of you need to adopt this policy.

I love Stewart and The Police, but I've never been an avid collector of anything, being quite poor kind of makes collecting not that possible for me, but if I've had anything to share then I've shared it....

I like to read all about the nutters on here and feel part of a fantastic community though

Well if being a fan is defined by how many records, posters and badges you can afford then you'd better count me as a non fan.

The only material things I've been able to share are a couple of magazines.

Plenty of love, laughs, best wishes and good luck vibes get shared here though. I've given some and recieved them back in spade-loads. I've never found sharing of anything to be an issue here.

To me that means a lot more than the material things.

As for question number 5. Does it really matter when you discover the music and decide you love it?

Back in the day? Well, I was 9 years old in 1980 and i'm afraid I wasn't into KK quite that early. I special ordered KK on vinyl (black vinyl reissue, of course) from my local record store circa 1986 or so.

Again, my timeline doesn't mesh with 1977-1984 but in high school/college I bought up all the SC related music I could find. For example, I own Johnathan Elias' Requiem for the Lost Americas -- I think that says it all.

I have Rumblefish and The Rhythmatist on original vinyl purchased in the 80's. I also have an original VHS copy of The Rhythmatist.

I have found that Copeland fans in general will go out of their way to share what they have, especially things that can't be purchased via official/legitimate means. If any of you have seen "The Rhythmatist" via a bootleg DVD there's a good chance it started out as a copy of my VHS tape, which I sent out to Ian and few others several years ago before stewartcopeland.net was born.

Ah, I should have read the whole post more carefully before I responded. This last sentence makes it clear you are pissing and moaning about something/someone specifically.

My collection is similar to Stephen, though I do have Freudian Slip and the Rose Colored Glasses CD single that has a version of We Don't Need a Reason that is slightly different than the version that appears on Freudian Slip when the song fades out at the end.

I would also say that the copy of "Police Around the World" DVD that made it to Ian at the same time as the Rhythmatist DVD is exponentially better than the versions I saw making the rounds during Tourzilla.

I'll agree with that statement just because 'hoarding and gloating' is not nice and very pointless. With apologies for any gender stereotyping, i suspect that boys are more likely to be completists than the girls.

I know of some who first heard of The Police during and after Tourzilla, some who weren't born til Animal Logic had broken up, some who have never seen the band live, some who cannot afford, or simply don't want, to buy everything they can get their hands on. Unfortunately it seems as though you are saying that these people are not true fans.

I hope / suspect / assume that you don't believe that and your point was specifically about "Freudian Slip".......in which case it's just unfortunate that you could be seen to be having a pop at those who just happen to be young/remote/poor/busy.

I didn't have a Klark Kent badge in 1978 because I was four years old and was more concerned about my working piggy and Paddington Bear.

But I cannot agree that if you're under 40 years old then you can't be a proper fan because that's just ridiculous.
Apply this logic to Mozart and it means because you weren't there to see his first performance in the 1760's or own original scores that you are not a 'real fan', purleeeease.
