Spyro the Dragon soundtracks?

Does anyone know what the release history of the Spyro the Dragon soundtracks is? Did all four sets appear in the Vault or only a couple? (And there was never an official release of any of them, right?) I'm trying to figure out how each set of tracks got released into the wild, but I've gotten my info/memory mixed up and now have just no damn idea.

Only selections of the series made it to the vault. I think Ek Songa from Spyro 4 may have been the first one out of the vault. Then, I think there were selections from the first Spyro game made it into rotation the vault for a while. Then there was Spyro Rank 2 which is still up in the vault which I think includes stuff from the Spyro games and stuff that was unreleased or at least stuff that I had never heard until they made it to the vault that I figure must have been composed for the games but wound up on the cutting room floor..

Ahhh. Thank you, Con. I appreciate the info. Sounds like the Spyro tracks' release/"release" is even more complicated than I thought. Did no Spyro 3 tracks make it into the Vault then?

Don't suppose anyone knows offhand which tracks are the ones that didn't make it into the game release, do they?

For what I know, as I never played with Spyro, the tracks that Stewart sent me where from Spyro 1 and Spyro 2, or at least these were the only indications from Stewart.

I recall that there was a bonus CD with some of Strewart's Spyro tracks that was sold with one of the games. However, my searching has not prodcued anything to back up my recollection.

Yeah, the Ek Songa track that was in the first edition of Stewart's Vault was from that Bonus CD that Nick mentioned. I think it has 6 tracks, 3 of which were used in the Spyro 4 but just the mixes were slightly different. My favorite track from the Bonus CD is called Mid-Flute and I don't think it appears in the game which is a shame. So I'm glad they released a CD with with the magazine. I wish we could purchase stuff like that on iTunes or the Amazon.com store.

Thank you, gentleman. Please forgive the pedantry here as I try to get this all straight. Is the following correct? (Any mistakes or omissions?)

Posted (at various times) in the Copeland Vault:
* select tracks from Spyro 1
* select tracks from Spyro 2
* "Ek Songa" (from Spyro 4) in first edition of Vault
* some possibly Spyro-ish tracks that aren't in the game?

Released on a Bonus CD accompanying one of the games:
* (approximately) 6 tracks, variations on 3 of which were used in Spyro 4
* Includes "Ek Songa"
* Includes "Mid-Flute" (which may not appear in the game)

Anyone know which game this bonus CD came with? Any chance anyone feels like making a scan of the paperwork at all? The Spyro release histories will be approximate at best, but I'd like to include as much verifiable detail as possible.

Con, you mention a CD with a magazine. Is that the same Bonus CD as mentioned above, and what magazine might that have been?

I thought I'd remembered reading in a Playstation forum back when I learned of this CD's existence that t was included as a bonus CD in a Playstation Underground (or similar) magazine. However, it looks like from this site: http://vgmdb.net/album/1400 and a few other similar sites that discuss the CD like this http://lostvgm.com/vgmrush//album.php?id=358 that it was a sold in a limited edition version of the game as it appears you've discovered the same thing

When the tracks from the first Spyro game emerged from Stewart's Vault, I think the tracks that appeared had notes written by Stewart where he discussed the names he gave the tracks. I believe he said they were all nouns that he wished to describe what he was feeling at the time he composed them, similar to the notes he did for the tracks that appeared in the Anthology. In fact, Rain was one of the tracks that was in the Spyro 1 vault. One of the other tracks from the Spyro 1 edition of Stewart's vault was Orbit, which was the title track of the first Spyro game. Stewart said in the notes that it was for William Orbit If you are fan of William Orbit like I am, you will notice that Stewart gives a tip of the hat to Orbit with his use of the acoustic-like guitar sounds which are similar to what William Orbit sometimes uses in his recordings. In fact, the Orbit track in the Spyro games reminds me a lot of the track El Nino from Orbit's fourth Strange Cargo album Hinterlands, in which it sounds like Orbit is giving a tip of the hat to Stewart with it's use of the synthesized bass you hear in the Rhythmatist album and a lot in the score of the Equalizer's first season.
