Thom Yorke revealed today that his side project previously known as ???? will hit the road this April under its new official name, Atoms For Peace. Yorke assembled the live outlet to bring his 2006 solo album The Eraser to the stage, and debuted the band — which features Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, producer Nigel Godrich, Beck drummer Joey Waronker and percussionist Mauro Refosco — during a string of shows in Los Angeles last year. (Click here to read our review of Yorke’s first official solo show.)

In a radio interview last month Yorke promised the ???? band would get together for additional shows. “We had too much fun to just leave it there,” Yorke writes now on Radiohead’s Dead Air Space. The previous performances boasted tracks from The Eraser, rare Radiohead songs like “Super Collider” and “Paperbag Writer” plus a handful of new songs like “Judge, Jury & Executioner” and “Open the Floodgates.” One of those new songs, “Lotus Flower,” was performed by Radiohead last month during a special Haiti benefit concert in Los Angeles.

Atoms For Peace kick off their trek with two shows at New York’s Roseland Ballroom and then slowly creep back west; the tour is currently set to wrap with the Coachella performance on April 18th. As for why Yorke chose Atoms For Peace, the title of a song on The Eraser, as the name for the band, it just “seemed bleedin’ obvious,” the Radiohead frontman writes. Tickets go on sale to Radiohead’s Waste club members starting March 2nd, with the public onsale March 5th.

Stewart, after that tour, Mauro will be all warmed up, so why not play a few GIZMO shows? And then an album and a DVD! Call up ASL and see what he's up to!
