I am a bit confused by this. Why am I thrown by the phrase "light supper"? Anyone able to shed some insight as to what this all about?

New Roads is a private progressive school in CA (I only know this because friends had kids who graduated from there a few years ago) and this sounds like their auction/fundraiser for the year. We have a gala/auction at our kids school every November that sounds just like this except we vary the themes (this year it was far east last year it was roaring 20's) . We also have a "light supper" drinks and finger foods. Drinks are especially helpful for loosening the pocketbook stings during bidding. We never had the star studded lineup but we did the best we could:)

Sorry, EQ. I copied and pasted everything, but I should have been selective. I bolded the appropriate bits in the OP for a bit more clarity. Looks like the light meal/drinks/Val Kilmer portion like Dufmanno described is the evening portion of the event: the SC-performance portion seems to be the Family Music Festival & Expo from 12-4. (The differentiation is clearer on the New Roads site.) Day bit is $15; evening: $100.

Can you imagine having that much star wattage in your PTA? I always crack up when my friends from LA casually drop the names of their kids classmates and their shiny parentage. I guess you can't throw a rock at a private school out there without hitting celebrity offspring. Not that I would condone such an act.

This is the school auction as mentioned previously. The date was changed due to a family emergency involving one of the performers.
