Getting ready for the Snowpocalypse here in Philly...ice melt is re-stocked and it's time to limber up those shoveling muscles, I suppose...

We're @ Steamboat and there seems to be plenty of snow, although everyone's saying it's the lowest base on record (I did see grass poking up through one run yesterday, but I also went ass over teakettle after hitting a drift at one point...)

It's supposed to be snowing all over this weekend, so may get a couple more days of skiing in, since it's a three-hour drive from here back down to Denver...if we've gotta be snowed in, this isn't so bad!

Raining in LA, guess I can't complain.

Any nutters tired of snow? Head to LA at the end of the month for The Police Experience show at St. Rocke at Hermosa Beach and join Conroy and I.

Can't wait! The only problem is these storms have been happening on the weekend, and I'm flying out on the day of the show. Although, the airlines have done a great job of rebooking people to either get out of town before the storm or rescheduling flights without nickel-and-diming everyone by waiving the rebooking fees.

Good luck to all you snow weary East Coasters. It was another abnormally un-wintry day up here. It wasn't cold or snowy enough to even merit boots. I wore my Chuck while out on yard duty today.

I'm using the word climate change more often these days instaed of global warming. The warming of the planet doesn't result in a raise of temperatures everywhere and all the time. But it sure messes up the world's climates with growing frequency.
In Dallas, the only game that really mattered was in the word gamelan.

Ok, well, the freakin' snow is still coming down. It's been snowing since about noon on Friday and it's not supposed to stop anytime soon. I already went out once and shoveled the front porch, and a shovel-wide path down the steps across the front sidewalk and up the driveway. It was about 7" or so then. I figured I'd get a start on things. It's coming down pretty fast and it's kind of windy. So, despite my efforts, the front door is blocked shut anyway <grrrrh> I'm not gonna out again for awhile. Screw it! I'm not going anywhere. Not trying to get to the airport this time!!

While I was out though, there was some lightning and thunder. It continued after I came back in. Pretty cool effect bouncing off the snow. As I was shoveling I was also thinking about a big snowstorm we had just about this time when I was in college in 1983. We had about 3 feet of snow and classes were canceled for about 2 days or so (which was a fantastic thing for a college student). There were huge snowball fights and people stole the trays from the dining hall to sled with. We'd sit at the end of the hallway at night and talk and laugh (and *read* the articles in Playgirl). And whenever my friend Betsy got a new record or tape she'd put it on and leave her door open and we'd listen to it ad infinitum. One such record was Synchronicity. I can still hear her singing, "There's a little black spot on the sun today," over and over and over and over. :-D Anywho, after the snow had stopped and the roads were somewhat clear a friend and I had decided to walk into the nearby town to go to the grocery store. We were taking orders from everyone on the floor. Valentine's day was coming so we had to buy people candy and cards and I'm sure we got milk and toilet paper, too. I remember we had so much stuff we just stole the cart and wheeled it all the way back to school. While we were out though, my buds were goofing around in the snow and my friend Margaret, who'd had polio as a child, jigged when she should had jogged and broke her ankle. We missed all the excitement and the ambulance ride on the icy roads. But, I remember Margaret's hysterical drug-induced artwork she made while she was on the pain meds. But, I digress.......

SNOW SUCKS!!!!!

EVERYONE BE CAREFUL OUT THERE AND STAY WARM !

We had some sleet mixed in where I live last night, so we only had about 15" earlier when I went outside to shovel a bit. So we'll probably have about 20" or so by the time it ends based on the current projections. We had about the same from the storm back in December.

It's around about 20" in Philly already. I shoveled once just so it wouldn't be complete hell when it finishes, sometime later this afternoon (hopefully...)

Round 3: started snowing around 10AM, not quite and inch yet. But the roads and sidewalks are getting covered now too. Another Saturday night at home.
I am dog-sitting (again ) for friends who have emergency related jobs in neighboring Richmond and have to go in to work. This is why I am a cat-person.

Some pictures I took out my windows & doors earlier today:

We've had a few more inches since then but seems to be slowing down now. About to hit shoveling round #2 (urgh).

Are they kidding with this snow?
It has not stopped in DC since yesterday, and here in NW Washington we look to be at almost two feet.

We ended up with a total of 6 inches of snow here. I finished shoveling a little while ago. It was really, really heavy because there was sleet mixed in. You folks in Baltimore, DC & Philly seem to be getting hit hard. Be safe out there, everyone.
