Alanis Morrisette

Hands Clean

Alanis is one of my guilty pleasures. I saw her a number of times live when Taylor Hawkins was her drummer. But I have not seen her since he joined the Foos.

Check out NPR's All songs considered. I signed up for their song of the day email, which has proven very interesting so far because their choices have been all over the map. I'm listening to the entire new Massive Attack cd. There was a dude called Daddy Lion that has a cool song -- free EP download. Laura Veirs -- indie rock songwriter that I really dig -- give July Flame a listen.

Here is the link to massive attack's first listen... http://www.npr.org/templates/story/stor ... c-20100202

Burning for Buddy (the first one). Specifically at this moment, Love for Sale with Steve Gadd. The only major clunker on the CD is the track by Bill Bruford, which is unfortunate since I am a huge fan.

If you are not familiar with this, this is a project by Neil Peart wherein various drummers play with the Buddy Rich Orchestra. The drummers are: Simon Phillips, Dave Weckl, Gadd, Matt Sorum, Steve Smith, Peart, Manu Katche, Billy Cobham, Max Roach, Rod Morgenstein, Kenny Arnoff, Omar Hakim, Ed Shaughnessy, Joe Morello, Bruford, Smitty Smith, and Steve Ferrone.

I think it would have been cool if Vinnie and Dennis Chambers was involved in the project.

Of course, even though STEWART claims a major jazz allergy, how cool would it be to hear him play something off of Big Swing Face?

WOW. I'm gonna check some of these recommends out. Thanks, all.

OT: A couple tracks off the new Mumford & Sons CD, which dropped yesterday. Apparently they're huge already in the UK (I found them via BBC Radio 1, available on Sirius satellite radio), but they've yet to make waves Stateside.

Got curious, looked at their website and - holy frijole - they're playing Bonnaroo. Looking forward to it, although I've gotta say they've borrowed more than one idea from the Avett Brothers (who I also love, actually)...
On Google - site:stewartcopeland.net "your keyword here" - thanks DM!!
