Police Withdrawl

You know, I do remember hearing what could have been a bar or two of it, which I hadn't remembered until someone emailed me about this. I certainly don't remember hearing it in anything like its entirety, but a.) I saw 17 shows and they all kind of blur, and b.) as an ADD American, memory for details isn't always my strong suit. Sorry, folks.

Things I do remember about that show: It was the first appearance of the Leroy Coolbreeze shirt, and Joe Sumner fell off the amp during the FP set and scared the hell out of everybody. There was a blazing 'Next to You.' Also, we had a pretty great tailgate party that afternoon out in the parking lot...

If you need a quick Police fix... What track do you, ahem, "use"?...

To get that old spirit back, I oddly turn to Deathwish. 8)

Contact - because it is imperfect. It's like driving an old car over a bumpy road. The potholes don't get smoothed out by the suspension. You know where you are.

But generally I 'use' something else. The Taranta recording snogs pretty good if you want to keep it in the family :-)

Love this thread Johnny O.Nice one.

I ALWAYS turn to Message in a bottle.

Timeless.

After that fix any live version of Cant Stand Losing You into Reggatta.

Always makes me feel good.

Deathwish is my general purpose ringtone on my phone. Just the groove, looped.
So I get a touch of that very often.

I like Smudge's mention of Contact, too.
Hands down, when I go to the iPod it's either Regatta or occasionally Zenyatta.

A little Driven To Tears action comes to mind when thinking about Police Withdrawal.

Am I alone in thinking Man In A Suitcase is a "lost" little gem? It has KILLER Stewart tracks (go back and listen to the hi-hats), solid walking bassline and a proto-police guitar line. And damn if it doesn't get stuck in my head everytime I hear it. This little tune really defines a Police sound for me. 8)

Agreed. The live version is one of my favorites. If you ever have a chance to see The Police Experience, they do a spot on version of it.

I must confess: I spent a HUGE chunk of my evening watching Youtube videos from the Salt Lake City show.

My top 3:

Synchronicity rehearsals
Derrangements.
The live in 79 (possibly 06.04 or 04.06) Berlin bootleg is fantastic.

Oh, and Hyde Park Calling videos and bootlegs, natch..... did i mention that there was this flag going round the world at the time.....?
