Thank you Johnny !
It's quite a comfort to read someone else saying what I've felt!
Alright, they're each very clever on their own, but so unique and
completely mesmerizing in each other's company...That's what kept me running to every gig
I could get to during the reunion, telling myself "soak it up, soak it up...
this dose has to last you til you're in the home...." Im ready for a booster any time
they are....

Great thread.

I swear nothing has ever 'grabbed my b-----ks' like hearing Reggatta De Blanc in '79.
Nothing ever will.

Genius x3.
I totally agree even though I don't have any b-----ks to grab.

And here it is still grabbing our grabbable bits all these years later.
Absolutely "Regatta...", it was/is just fabulous.....and there was the handsome guy on the right of the cover pic too.....(sigh)
The title piece, I NEVER get tired of hearing, almost pogo'ed right off the bleacher at Churchill Downs in July '07 when The Guys broke into THAT one! And they played Masoaka Tanga during that show too!!!! Coulda' just 'fell out' right then and there, it was more than I could have asked for, really.......

That was an awesome show. Probably one of the best I've ever attended. It was a great night, wasn't it?

Um, they didn't. I am sure there are plenty of Nutters who can confirm this. Dive for 1. I think GIna Super Cat was there too. Reminds me of the reports that they played Tea in the Sahara early in the tour, which they certainly didn't.

I didn't think so... The coolest bit for me was in Hershey, PA during the jam session of CSLY Sting actually sang "I don't want no..." I almost freaked when I thought they were about to go into Dead End Job (they didn't)...

When I read falcon's post, I hyperventialated a little and then went to the Police wiki to check the set list for that show. There was no mention of Masoka Tanga there. And the mighty wiki don't lie. If it turned out that they had played it, I'd be working on a time machine right now. I loooooove that song.

That's just what I was about to ask when I read that. I almost thought they had played Masoko Tanga during the tour and I had no idea.

Love the song too! And yes, a time machine would be very useful (especially for those of us who have never seen the Police live).

Darnit, it's like there's this vending machine that dispenses the best tasting rock ever, and it's got an out of order sign. :(

I'm with you, Bry. IT is possible. It might or might not be desirable. Definitely possible.

I agree with you about the best tasting rock ever, though.
Unfortunately, one of the ingredients went flat or something, though.

Well, they did, it was as a medly along w/ I fergit. Nerd alert: am geeky enough to have scrawled out the set list as-played for ea. of the 3 shows I was able to attend. Will bring it into work here at Libr. on Friday (if I remember to) and post it. The Guys were playing the aforementioned "I fergit", slid into Masoaka Tanga for quite a few bars, and then back into what is slipping my mind right now-it was great. They also did "Truth Hits', which I don't remember being Played at either Charlottesville or Columbus-but then, Churchill Downs was rather early on in The Tour. Really, I know this piece, it was dance favorite 'way back When, in college altho' album was a few years old by then.
I ll try to remember to bring the Louisville List and post it-this is already a heinous week for me, so bear with...!

I must admit that I may be wrong, as I seem to recall that Churchill Downs was one of the few shows for which a recording has not surfaced so I cannot absolutely confirm it myself. However, it seems odd that news of MT being played first surfaces a few years later. MT is a pretty popular song here in Copelandia, so I would have thought that the board would have been a-buzz if they played it, especially in light of all the gripes that the set list was so static.

I would hope that someone else who was there could confirm the playing of MT. Don't mean to insulting, but I have heard people swear that Tea in the Sahara was played when the recording showed otherwise.

Dive? Dietmar? Anyone?

Hey there, EQ. Because I only have computer/web access here at work at Library, and can only go onto this Board here at a 15 Break or at Lunch (half hour), I just peruse most of this, especially when all were talking about who played what when on Tour. And, really, I got completely sucked into the Vortex of The Flag, The Point, The Holder!
Masoaka Tanga probaly was brought up at some time, and I was most likely speed reading thru the adventures of The Point!! Am actually here late after my shift (had to take a survey for some training class, no time during worktime), or I'd have forgotten to even reply. I will go get those lists I scrawled, and either take time during a break on Friday (Thursday is a short Killer shift) to post, or ask my boyfriend if I could do so on his mac. Ah, life behind the Technology curve.....
You know folks were so just going ape, a roar from 40,000+ every piece of music, M T could have been overlooked easily. I was turning to the husband of a lady next to me-he and I were all name-that-piece name-which-album during show, the folks I went w/ were rather drunk but happy (I am the sober driver partypooper). I remember screaming out the name of Masoaka Tanga as it slid out of what was playing, stayed around, and then slid away again. Ok, will do my best EQ!

Curiosity got the better of me - so I dug out my little digital microcassette recorder
from 14JUL07 concert and listened from beginning to end of the Churchill Downs gig-
hoping to be wrong about not remembering Masoko Tanga being played....but I wasnt.
Even though there was a nasty echo at that venue that bounced off the stands, I could hear String telling
the story about his friend asking to name his racehorse after his youngest son, and
"Giacomo" proceeding to win the Kentucky Derby....,a killer "Footsteps" and a great crowd,
but no Masoko Tanga, sadly, phooey! In the summer of '07 I remember even the old diehards getting
freaked out by the cool new intro Andy worked out to Bed's Too Big that had a similar
rhythm to MT, and Next To You was an older tune knocking people's socks off too in those days, maybe
the confusion came from one of those tunes, perhaps ...
Hope someone keeps working on that time machine idea, though, wouldnt we have lots of
lovely stops to make?!?
