OT: WHAT'S IT DOING OUTSIDE??

The Federal Government will be closed in the DC area Monday.

Things are still quite ugly here 18 hours after the snow stopped. Took a couple hours to liberate my car.

It's days like these i wish I had a condo with covered parking. I went for a quick trip to the store about 2:00 pm and the roads were still treacherous. I got real nervous when some redneck got to close behind me in his pickup. It drives me nuts when people with 4 wheel drive vehicles think they can drive on these icy roads like they do when they're clean and dry.

I was watching the news about the big storm. As I saw the images I thought "Welcome to my life, guys!" Of course, the big difference is that the municipalities down there don't have nearly as much snow removal equipment and personnel to deal with that amount of snow. The clean up will take a long time. At least the scenery is beautiful now that the skies have cleared and the sun is shining.
Ironically, my kids are all moaning because it looks like we might be having a green Christmas up here this year.

How weird...
They are predicting another storm for Christmas Day (maybe rain, maybe not.)

Only freezing rain and black ice on the roads here on the Isle of Wight. Went arse over elbow walking the dogs this morning and wore my fleece hat in bed last night. All three dogs on the bed when I woke up so it must have been cold. Oh well.... lighter evenings on the way from now on.

Hope all of you with really extreme weather are staying safe and warm.

This is a major pet peeve of mine. Some people think 4 wheel drive makes them invincible. You can slide on the ice just as good as everyone else and even better than most if your 4 wheel drive is a truck.

I don't hate driving in the snow, I hate driving in the snow with stupid people all around me.

I saw more that today. Another thing which I witnessed a lot today that totally shocked me was the number of people driving around who were too lazy to remove the snow from the roofs of their vehicles. Like Vespapod said, this snow was easy to move and shovel because it was so light and fluffy. Now that it's thawed and refrozen a bit, it is now more dense and compact and could do some damage if it flies off the roof of one car at 60mph and hits another.

Three Dog Night!

I think I just wet my pants laughing at this...

Hear we're supposed to get snow Friday. Anybody else? I'm packing my woolens for the trip out to West Va. to visit Pullet Surprise's relatives. Hoping for some sledding, and that the highways magically stay ice-free.

Agree with COnroy on how rude it is not to the clean off the roof of your car. Saw it lots today myself.

Wow, I'm sure it took you some time to dig your car out of all of that snow.

I agree shyvixen...these soccer mom suburbanites get these SUVs and think they have balls like you see hanging from a bull....plus most were city assbites who moved to suburbia and have minimal driving experience...that on top of the mad christmas rush and being just blooming idiots on their 4G phones makes for massive accidents when legitimate people like me have to get to the hospital and the office to "really" help people...they should be staying home watching idiot court channels and jerry springer!!! And yes!!!! Clean off the top of your goddamn car...that is super dangerous....100 dollar fine here in Jersey....

Roads much better here today but on the way to a funeral this afternoon I hit a patch of black ice and the car ended up almost facing the direction I had just come from. Damn scary. It was a narrow country lane so I was only doing about 20 and thankfully no other vehicles on the road. Made me realise how easily these things happen.

Toronto - feels cold. (only -6 c)

Maybe snow in the next few days.

...but it's anti-banjo-playin cold today.
