OT: WHAT'S IT DOING OUTSIDE??

Ahoy Nutters!
Seems that the clairvoyents over on The Weather Channel are proclaiming the east coast one step away from doomsday this weekend. Seems a Nor Easter is headed our way and is gonna travel up the I95 corridor. Yee haw! That's all very well and fine (aside from the fact that I hate to shovel snow). I could stay inside and decorate or wrap or write cards ('cause I've plenty of milk and toilet paper) BUT I'm supposed to catch a plane Sunday morning for sunny San Diego! Gaaaaaaaaah!

The storm is supposed to come from the south and start as rain and turn to snow around the Mid-Atlantic. Right where I am!

What's going on outside down south y'all southern Nutters?

Everyone I know here in DC is running around trying to outwit each other to get that last gallon of milk. No snowflakes yet but the sky looks menacing. I'm preparing for a little Jack Torrence like episode after about two days of being stuck together here in the Overlook. Wondering if they got it right or if we end up with nothing.

We had a good 1/2 inch of snow overnight. Chaos. I love London for its complete inability to deal with reality.

About to step out of the office to go get Christmas stamps. Guess I won’t need my coat, it’s 72 degrees Fahrenheit in West Hollywood, CA. :D
Hope you make it out to SD this weekend, it should be a gorgeous weekend.

Safe travels to all the Nutters out there going somewhere for the holidays.

I'm in Williamsburg, Virginia, about 3 hours southeast of DC and maybe another hour north west from the coast. It looks like snow, 37 degrees, but I'm betting it's another Nor'easter wash-out. Lots of getting our hopes up and nothing more. It's been years (and years) since we had snow...

It's been snowing here for about 2 hours! Not what was predicted. Even the local news is saying it's raining. WRONG. And it looks to be sticking!

I was down in Fredericksburg, about halfway between Richmond and Washington, DC and it's been snowing around there since about 6:30. I gotta make one more run after I type this to get rations before hunkering down for the night. We could get over 20" here, especially if there's thundersnow, which I experience once during a freak snowstorm on Veteran's Day 1987. We were supposed to get about 4" of snow that day but we wound up getting 13" because of the thundersnow.

Yeah, I think it's kinda neat that we'll have a White Christmas, but the novelty will wear off long before Santa arrives. 72 degrees sounds perfect right about now!

Okay, I thought I heard the weather guy wrong when he said "Thundersnow". So this mythical event actually exsists? I'll go out on a limb here and assume this means snow AND thunder. I'm glad I wasn't hearing things when the wtop weather crew predicted it. Right now it's a complete white out here with about two inches on the ground. I guess we'll see when I wake up.

Nothing in NYC yet but the first thing I heard this morning when I turned on the news was "we can't exactly call it a blizzard because it is not going to be very windy..." But by evening they were predicting 1 to 2 inches per hour. I still think it is totally possible that it blows out to sea and by the time it gets this far north we will have NOTHING.

I have whatever i need and fortunately the supermarket is just a short walk away if it became really necessary. I went into the supermarket earlier for a few things and it was really empty.

Tomorrow I absolutely have to go out as a group of us from work are delivering toys we collected to a local hospital--one of about 5 or 6 that get a visit from Santa and gifts for the kids. I can take the subway to it but am worried about the person bringing the gifts as she has to drive in from Long Island. Plans for tomorrow night to see a friend's choral group are on hold.
