OMG!!!!

Since they're obviously such an authority on the subject, I'm so relieved that I own 4 (count 'em)FOUR of the albums on the list.

I wondered why there was so much Coldplay on that list and then I saw who was voting.

I'm not going to quibble with 90% of the list, because I haven't heard it. I'm grateful for the reminder that I have two fantastic Ryan Adams albums that I'd forgotten about for a few years, and puzzled (as long time fan) that they'd just stick all of U2's output for the decade in there. I'm not sure U2 would do that if asked for a list.

Quick question though. I was very, very late to the Queens of the Stone Age party (by about a decade), but I can't figure out how anyone would put Rated R on the list and not Songs for the Deaf. It isn't the sort of album you'd miss, even if it was playing in the background, unless there's an elevator/lounge remix I'm unaware of.

I don't have any of them.
Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

I own maybe 10?

It's not an exciting list, but then, I'm not sure I could say it was an exciting decade either.

Thanks, EQ.

Hmm....you know what I think might be interesting?

A Nutter-voted Top 100 Albums of the Decade list. I'd be real curious to see how our list compared.

Say, do something like everyone who wants to participate emails in their Top 10 list of the decade...then compile which albums got the most votes overall...anyone interested in taking part? I think it could be fun.

RS's list from the 80s was maybe little better

#1 was The Clash - London Calling

HOWEVER, the Police's highest LP was Synchroncity at 17 - seven spots below Tracy Chapman :?

AND NOT A SINGLE OTHER POLICE LP MADE THE TOP 100!!!!

Sting's . . . Nothing Like the Sun was 90

This sums it up nicely.

I like sockii's idea, but I can't come up with 10 offhand. I would have to start digging through my cd collection.

Huh, well...I could probably easily come up with at least 10 myself. I've just been looking through my most listened to albums/tracks of '09 and already have a few just from the past year or two I'd put on my personal list, earth-shattering or not. (What's odd is the one Coldplay album I dearly love start to finish is the one that *didn't* make RS's list: X&Y. I don't know why that one gets knocked so much.) This past decade may not have produced a huge number of ground breaking acts, but I do think there has been some very notable and good stuff. Just not necessarily as RS has picked it.

Anyway, I might tally my Top 10 at least at some point....
