Well, look at it this way: If you were going to a lot of trouble to create some type of artwork, wouldn't you want to talk to the people who appreciated it? I guess Stewart could go hang out amongst people who want to call him a wanker (who are they? We'll kick their asses! ;)) but I would imagine lurking in here is probably a lot more fun. Especially since he does have an exceptionally good-looking, brilliant and articulate fanbase, if I say so myself. ;)

(was just having a spot of fun at Sting's expense earlier...the true feelings of most members of this board are revealed by a quick browse of the thread about Sting's PBS special, which we universally loved...)
On Google - site:stewartcopeland.net "your keyword here" - thanks DM!!

I'm probably one of Sting's biggest fans, so I feel it is my duty to "call it like I hear 'em" when he puts out a dud! Sometimes it takes me few years to "catch up" with where he's going, but he finally lost me on Sacred Love.

I haven't seen the PBS Lute special yet (tomorrow night), so I can't comment, but from the little bit I have heard it sounds interesting.

Can you imagine what Sting's ego would be like if people didn't try to bring him back down to earth?

Oh I'm not mad at him for that. The music would have began to suck if they tried to stick it out, and we got three times as much stuff as we other wise would have.

Plus if they had stayed together then, they wouldn't be doing the reunion now... I STILL would have missed out.

There is a legend that says that in the very early days Stew pretended to be a fan and sent letters to magazines and radios, etc… (do you remember) to glorify the police. It was confirmed by Henry… I newer heard something similar about Andy or Sting.
So you are right, in a way, Strewart is a Police fan!

Actually Philip, that was Stewart being a Stewart fan. Since he was in the band he had to mention them. But he *exalted* the drummer! :)

In one of the interviews Stewart said that he was always the biggest fan of the Police in the group...Heh, the Copelands were pioneers on the promotion angles, decidedly :)

As for Sting, so much attention is often played to his singing, looks, and lifestyle that I think the most interesting and talented part--his bass playing--is one of the lesser mentioned aspect, even in the context of the Police--having played bass in the past and now into the drums, I oftentimes hear over the bass and just lock in on the drum parts of songs, but in the Police, that's not even remotely possible...that rythym section is more than the sum of its parts, surely...
