Each voter was asked to list his or her 25 favorite albums and songs of the past decade, in order of importance. Ballots were tabulated and weighted according to a methodology developed by the accounting firm of Ernst & Young, under the supervision of the editors of Rolling Stone.

OK, there's Wilco, RCHP, Plant and Krauss, Arcade FIre, MMG and a few others...but, sincerely, who cares?
It seems that careers and reputations today are made by sales or downloads, not by "The best..."

Blah. Looking at that list is like tasting something nasty and wanting to immediately rub it off your tongue as fast as possible. Matt Taibbi is the only thing Rolling Stone magazine has going for it these days.

Not saying there's not some good stuff on there...just that the list is terribly predictable knowing the musical acts RS loves to praise and push and so this list all their usual suspects, for the most part.

And seriously, THREE ALBUMS EACH taken up by U2 and COLDPLAY? :roll:

(And I'm gagging on that even as I *like* (some) Coldplay). OK, right...

Those U2 albums? Ug... Has any band lost its way more than U2 since Actung Baby? With very few exceptions, why don't their newer songs have hooks? I was a HUGE U2 mark in the early 90's but haven't liked a song of theirs since "Stay Faraway/So Close"...

By the by, CERTIFIABLE is the album of the decade because it's the album no one ever thought they would get.

I have some other musics from the decade, but all from artists famous a few decades earlier. I have some Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Tom Petty, and Steve Winwood, in addition to Stewart, Andy, and Sting.

I think Tom Petty's Last DJ deserves to be the top 100.

ETA: I forgot about George Harrison's 2002 postomous CD Brainwashed as both an album purchased from the decade and an album that should be in the top 100. A great, underappreciated CD.
