UPDATE Nutter Holiday Party - Philly - December

Well, no one location is ever going to make everyone happy. Didn't some of our Canadian nutters organize their own holiday get-together one year? If other groups in other parts of the country/world wanted to plan other holiday parties I think it would be great.

It just so happens that there are a lot of nutters in the Northeast so it's easy for folks to gather in Philly, which is fairly central for a lot of the NY, NJ and DC/Maryland peeps. If I had to fly or arrange overnight somewhere for a dinner party? While I love the peeps here, I probably wouldn't be attending either especially with holiday costs always being high for everybody.

The folks at La Fourno have also been consistently awesome with letting us run rampant and offer a good deal for the money, which can be hard to find (again ESPECIALLY during the holidays). So I hope the Philly tradition will continue for many years to come...[/quote]

That's really too bad that that's the feeling concerning the party. I know that if I were to host one, I *might* get Dive here...perhaps Indygirl...if they weren't busy. But I really don't think it would be the kind of event this is. After all, this is *THE* Nutter Party, right?

I guess...just once it would be nice not to have to not go to a function with the wonderful people of this group due to my own financial constraints. Plane tickets, gas, hotel, food, whatever...it's an expense either way you slice it. And especially in December with all the holiday stuff going on...including my trip to visit my family, which means airfare and all of that. I don't mind a good trip...if it's financially within reason. And...honestly, I get bummed each time this event happens and I can't get to it. I want to meet and spend time with the Nutters...those I've met through the shows I attened, through the board, through Facebook, etc...and those I have yet to get to know.

It was only a thought from this list lurker. Pay me no mind...

Karen, hon, you bet your ass I'd be there, unless I had something going on I just couldn't get out of. I really don't think the Philly thing was ever intended to be an "official" Nutter thing - it just sort of started happening b/c a few people live up there. But I know a few people would go somewhere else if we gave them enough notice and planned it around a concert or other event people wanted to see - maybe we should start talking about something like that for next summer. Hey, I figure Bonnaroo gives us a good excuse, as do a slew of concerts happening up in Chicago and that area, somewhere that's not very expensive from our region. Maybe one of the U2 gigs would provide a natural starting point, since so many ppl are doing that tour.

On the 'inviting others' thing, I figure nobody from outside the core Nutter group would be offended if they happened to be around and we wanted to give each other green treats or do something like the very outstanding Nutter awards Amy and Laurie did last year. Would hope not, anyway.

Looking forward to seeing you kids any time, any way I can get you - Dive

Thank you, Dive!

I really, really am trying to be a bigger part of this group, and that makes it difficult when I can never afford to fly off to every event because it's taking place somewhere that is out of my financial budget to get to. I know some of that can't be helped. Events like La Jolla and stuff take place because certain people are going to be there. And if I can't afford to get there, well, I live through the tales and the posts of those who can.

I think doing something sometime in the summer as a group would be a lot of fun. Perhaps we should do some talking. :)

Everyone going to the Nutter Christmas party...I will once again be there in spirit.

Have a good time.

I'm all for more local gatherings being organized - and spread throughout the year. Because then you never know what might evolve into something annual and grow with time. Which, the way I see it, now that Tourzilla is over and there might only be a couple of specifically Stewart-centric events taking place each year that can be the focus,* is the best way to keep folks in contact and keep the fandom strong (and, maybe even growing instead of dwindling).

The economy is rough and finances are tight for a lot of people right now. I dearly missed being able to attend pretty much any other Nutter gatherings this year because I just didn't have the travel money, what with trying to save for a new house and undoing the damage Tourzilla did to my bank account. I couldn't even justify the short hop to NYC to see folks if I had to pay for hotel costs, so until my life gets settled that's the way it is for me (though I'm trying to keep a little fund going for Dallas next year since no way do I want to miss that!)

Yeah, I'm around Sunday till like 4. Let's start thinking about brunch, unless someone's done that already and I missed it.

I'll have a car, am glad to drive folks around, etc. Am getting in around 6 on Friday. Still don't know if Andy will be in tow or not - I did buy him a plane ticket but work is a little hairy for him right now. Will keep you posted and am glad to pay for his meal either way. Let's just assign him the chicken.

Ya know, we are fortunate STEWART does things away from the coasts from time to time. Dallas will be a blast and seriously, you never know when he'll turn up in the likes of Cleveland...I wouldn't at all rule out a Nutter party in the Midwest at some point. Whoever can come, will, and it's just not personal vis a vis people's vacation schedules and finances and whatnot. I'm personally not gonna hold my breath waiting to see any one person or combination of people - I love ALL you guys and am glad to see any of you any time and under any circumstances I can get you. Seriously.

That said, all hell will break loose if they ever do get Oysterhead going again. I'm renting a bus. I mean it.

**Morning Bump**

Good morning, all. Sorry for the "radio-silence"...haven't been online since last Monday...just back from vacation plus had my family Thanksgiving dinner yesterday.

Anyway, I have everyone's order except for Pluto. Deadline is 3pm EST today.

Sorry to hear GSC and PC can't make the festivities...you'll be missed...and Gina, no worries...no charge. Today is the deadline for the menu selection to LaFourno and any cancellations after today will need to be covered.

Also, I will only be attending the dinner. Some family obligations have me on a tight weekend schedule...so I'll see you all at 7pm on Sat. at the restaurant.

Happy "Cyber" Monday.
Laurie :)

YO,

After much waffling the last week or so, I have to issue my regrets. I'm just not going to be able to swing it this weekend. I've got too much going on, and some lessons and things to make up from past and upcoming holidays.

I'm really down about this, 'cause I was really looking forward to some nutter fun.
But I know y'all will carry on, and I will see you soon down the road.

Thanks everybody, and especially Laurie for putting it together.

Next time!

Sorry we won't see you this weekend, Dan. :(

On the Sunday brunch front - I will be very happy to host a hangover-recovery/brunch at my place from 11am - until... on Sunday. That way folks can wander in whenever...I know last year it was a bit of an issue getting everyone in one place post-hangover at anywhere near the same time.

I'll have food, booze, non-boozy beverages, plus plenty of room to chill out, watch videos upstairs, whatever. And, hey, you can shop for holiday gifts at the same time as I'll have the gallery all swanked out for Christmas sales.

Address/info here if you need it: http://www.spacial-anomaly.com/

A rough head-count would be awesome as I plan on making frittatas (with farm-fresh eggs from my mom's chickens), bread, spreads, gelato and some of those sweet potato fries as per Conroy's request :P

yes, indeed, you never know WHO might end up in Cleveland :)

we did try and have nutter parties in other cities (like LA) and no one minded. no one really can- there are no real officially sanctioned nutter parties. we are nutters for goshsakes. if we plan it, nutters will come. and it will be craaaazy.

There will definitely be a nutter party in Cleveland sometime in the near future. i am pretty sure I can get dive, lkkinetic, maybe indy and you kiki! and anyone else who likes to have nutter fun and can make it here!

*hugs*

cannot WAiT to see my friends soon.

Very pumped for this. I am not going to be able to do anything Friday night, as I am going to visit my friends from my old school in Philly, but I am going to be able to hang out all day saturday, and until probably 2 or so on sunday.
Can not wait to see everyone
and a HUGE thanks to Laurie for setting this up.

A Midwest NutterThing would be great-a Virginia NutterThing would be morebetter  , since i am biased that way......
This Christmas gathering is great, and if I hadn't moved, AND had to put a new fuel pump on the Escort, I'd be going. It's really great that all y'all have kept this Stewart inspired Tourzille fueled community going.
