Well, that sucks about the Cats (GinaSuper and Papa). But, I compleatly understand!.
You'll be missed. Maybe we should get a PapaCat-head to sit across the table for Schmaff. She's got to be verklempt at the news.

I don't recall having given Laurie any money yet, thus I don't think finding people to take Gina's and Pat's entrees will be an issue. I personally don't think starting the precedent of inviting alot of people we all don't know is a good idea. We started having the dinner for it to be specifically a Nutter gathering to celebrate the holidays. Just my .02.

The two folks I was going to invite HAVE been at Nutter events before: my best friend Beverly, who was at the dinner and after-party last year, and Creatch, who was at both the Philly show and MSG in '08 with me.

But if they would not be welcome now, I'll let them know.

Can we please not make this into a "thing"? I think the issue with the money is that Laurie had to book the restaurant for a certain number of people and guarantee that number of people with her credit card. Thus, if people back out now, that money is still going to need to be paid by someone. I think that setting criteria for who is or is not appropriate to take those now vacant spots could be a mistake. Even though I'm abundantly sure you all know that I wish those seats weren't vacant at all...;)

To continue discussing this, in my humble opinion, is just going to make people uncomfortable all around.

It's Christmas, dammit.

Laurie's on vacation now so I'm not positive, I believe she said she needed a final # by the 30th. I'm pretty sure she hasn't paid them any money yet.

I'm only stating my opinion. Since the seats are up for grabs, I've got some friends from work who went to the Vegas show, I'm sure they'd like to come to a Christmas party. They've been hearing about my Nutter friends and Stewart hijinks for years.

Not trying to make a thing of it. It doesn't fucking matter what I think. Some people are allowed to have opinions on this board. Other people don't fucking matter. I don't even fucking care anymore. Invite who ever you want, Sockii. I had planned do something that was for my Nutter friends which involved giving away prizes.
I'm spending a lot of time and money on this and I don't want these prizes going to people I don't know.
I'll just scrap the whole thing and save myself a lot of trouble. Problem solved. Thanks. That just freed up my weekend.

Sockii: thanks so much for trying to cover our cancellation, its really appreciated! Ill try to coordinate with Laurie when she returns to make sure she's not out anything, but say hi to Nancy and Beverly hi for me, great peeps!

Amy: thanks so much for all you are doing to make this special. We are really sorry to be missing out on all the fun! Will be happy to chip in towards the effort, for the good of the whole. Thanks again & sorry to be missing out!

Nutters: best be prepared for 2010, because after the SuperCat is defended, there will be a major, multi city party all up in the spring and thru the summer. You have been warned, be prepared, just sayin! All I need is for someone to get moving on Oysterhead <wink>

Question: any folks coming in from out of town who will be around Friday night? I'm trying to look up local clubs/venues to see if there are any gigs worth checking out, if there would be any interest. Or just in a dinner/drinks get-together.

Still thinking about planning a hangover-brunch-gathering on Sunday for those who aren't heading back immediately and if interested. I'm thinking Bloody Marys, Venetian Spritzes and bacon will be in order.

we need a show and some tequila for some hatchet burying.

If we need to outline who is coming, that is cool. just let me know, k?
I know Amy had a point, but sweetie, I didn't get it either, and wondered if I shouldn't be bringing my BF. He's an honorary nutter in my book, since he supports me, as do the nutter spouses. But I felt a little weird upon reading your post.
But I got your point more fully after your second post, tho I hated seeing you guys upset.

I always appreciate the goofy (by which I mean endearing!) things nutters do for one another. We have had "guests" at nutter gatherings at shows etc, and no one who was a guest was ever offended, that I recall, at not having a special badge, gift, etc. Mostly they were just all amazed (or appalled) at our Nutteriness and comraderie. So, I am bringing my guest. And I would hope any of us who want to bring one would- the criteria (in my opinion fwiw) is simply that we bring people that we think would fit, or at least appreciate our Nuttiness :).

After all, the tour galvanized us, but we were all Nutters long before we found each other.

I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE YOU ALL!!!!!!

Man, now I'm thinking about rebooking my train ticket and coming in on Friday afternoon/evening. El Vez and Los Straightjackets sounds very tempting.

All that sounds great for Sunday Brunch, sockii. I'd also add a couple of carry-out orders of sweet potato fries from Ants Pants to that list!

I take you point, Meg. Spouses/boyfriends weren't what I was thinking of. No one's in charge of who's allowed and not-allowed to come. I was simply voicing my opinion. I'm sorry I opened my mouth it won't happen again. Of course, everyone can bring whoever they want. Covering the money is a non-issue. I am 99.99% sure laurie hasn't put out any $ towards this yet. I organized the first dinner and I only gave Al my card # in case we cancelled out right.

I'm fine if we just want to turn this into a general holiday celebration and take the Stewartness out of it then. That's what brought us together and I THOUGHT that was what we were celebrating...seeing the friends we met through his board who we don't see as often anymore, and celebrating the holidays, of course.

I'm just gonna crawl back under my rock now and STFU. See you all next Saturday.
