Once again, not able to make the trip out to Philly due to money restrictions around the holidays. It's just too expensive to fly or drive out that way.

So sorry all to have to cancel! It appears that not one but two things have come last minute up making it impossible for us to join you all. Professional thingys have to trump just about everything else at the moment, no real choice about it. Besides, I'm not nearly much fun and lose my tendency towards mischief when all stressed out <grin> We will cover our costs and put in for some appetizers, etc. I hope this is the last year that is completely consumed by the academic job search <paws crossed>...it appears that the trip to NYC was a last splash, so to speak, for the cats until next year. I'll miss you all terribly, have some extra fun and dance a bit extra for us!

Well, no one location is ever going to make everyone happy. Didn't some of our Canadian nutters organize their own holiday get-together one year? If other groups in other parts of the country/world wanted to plan other holiday parties I think it would be great.

It just so happens that there are a lot of nutters in the Northeast so it's easy for folks to gather in Philly, which is fairly central for a lot of the NY, NJ and DC/Maryland peeps. If I had to fly or arrange overnight somewhere for a dinner party? While I love the peeps here, I probably wouldn't be attending either especially with holiday costs always being high for everybody.

The folks at La Fourno have also been consistently awesome with letting us run rampant and offer a good deal for the money, which can be hard to find (again ESPECIALLY during the holidays). So I hope the Philly tradition will continue for many years to come...
