Serious over-analysis was not implied. It was just tongue-in-cheek as in: (Dramatic chord) Has he (Escalating chord) really (Painful drum roll) read it??? Only Stingo knows the truth, of course. And let's leave it as that.

Sorry if I just cannot be standard **PC** - I probably will have to add "I'M NOT SERIOUS!!!" at the beginning of every post.

Whoa there. Who asked you to be PC? Because I pointed out some facts that don't suit you? Because I don't agree with you?
Say WHATEVER you want.
I certainly don't expect you to preface your remarks. Good grief. Otherwise if you have something to say to me I suggest you find a way to do it privately.
ETA: on second thought, I don't think there's anything to discuss. We're not all cut out to be BFFs and that is okay.

does anyone else get the feeling that if you stood next to gordo at the moment he'd smell of smokey tweed or hessian?

Susan wrote:...but more to the point is that I continue to notice that Sting doesn't say anything outwardly negative and never really has about Stewart or Andy...you can read anything you want into what he does say. I know what I DID HEAR Sting say at MSG and that was that he called Stewart and Andy "two of the finest musicians on the planet." I will choose to believe he meant that and if he didn't that's not my problem!

Lennon and McCartney had their ups and downs over the years, too, and at their worst moments they traded some pretty pointed barbs. (Paul's song "Too Many People" is widely understood to be about John and Yoko, and John's song "How Do You Sleep" is explicitly -- and harshly -- about Paul.) But you have to put that stuff in the overall context of their history together, and (just as with Stewart and Sting) their collaboration resulted in a pretty significant body of work, as well as significant mutual respect and affection.

Susan,

That is just plain ridiculous. Link "un-friending" me on FaceBook. :
I seriously had a lot of respect for you.
I never asked or wanted to be your BFF. I had enough of over-touchy people in my life.
I don't think I said anything REALLY terrible this time, even if maybe I am entitled to say that I am not a fan of Stingo (First Amendment)?
And personally I wonder what you are doing here - really - when there are bazillions of Sting and U2 board online.

Oh wait! Maybe you are a member already.

Really, Elena? I find that hard to believe but it doesn't matter.

T, I suggested a private discussion but if you insist, I will share my thoughts right here.

We don't seem to get along. And that is okay. There are no hard feelings. Funny how when I choose to not be diplomatic or "pc" it's "ridiculous."

It is clear to me that every time we enter a discussion it turns negative and frankly I don't need it. LinkedIn, actually, is for professional contacts so why we ever linked up there I don't know and I probably should not have agreed to that. We have not worked together, have we? I don't know you in a professional capacity at all.

I am a fan of THE POLICE. I don't take sides. I didn't know that being a fan of Stewart's meant you were supposed to agree to Sting-bashing and sit quietly when someone does it ALL THE TIME.

Of course you have your First Amendment rights but guess what? So do I! I am free to point out holes in your little anti-Sting arguments. But please go ahead and carry on...why you take up the time to talk about someone you dislike so much is beyond me anyway.

PS you refer to me as "overly sensitive," but did it occur to you that perhaps I am tired of "overly negative" people who can only make snide and sarcastic remarks to their "friends" under the guise of a "joke?" But that's only okay when we are criticizing someone you don't like. Again, I strongly suggest that if you wish to continue this discussion (though I don't see the point) that you find a way to do so privately.

This is going to be It for me - no problem, guys. I'll join Kumbaya immediately.

1. If you wanted a private discussion, why did you bring it up here?
I did not mention you in my post, but you obviously immediately reacted because you tend to take things personally.
You also have a short memory, since I already apologized profusely to you in "private" for my "negative" remarks, not long ago. That was YOUR wall, and you were right. This is sc.net.

2. Any issue you may be going through in your life - as you hinted - I am very sorry for and wish you solve rapidly and painlessly. But please, don't take your anger or attitude on me, because I have no intention of becoming a scapegoat for your problems.

Now I see I was right in my assessment that you are not trustworthy, you have proven me correct. And you wondered why I unlinked you? You know there were times when I had your back and looked out for you. Maybe your memory is a bit short too.

My apologies to the group for unpleasantness to which I have contributed in this thread.

Elena, don't bother replying because I won't see it. Signing off.

Towos and Susan, what's happening here?
This thread is now a personal discussion between you too and you know it's something that probably forumers aren't that much interested about...ehehe...(unless you are on tv where it seems that works...but in that case you get money for that...hihihi).

C'mon; I can understand that sometimes personal feelings goes over the line, that a simple word can be taken with a lot more push than its real meaning; I don't want to go into further details due to something happened outsited this forum (but on facebook).
What I can say is that we're here to enjoy Stewart's music, and in this thread Stewart's book.
Elena wants to sign off, but I'm sure many of you would be disappointed; wright or wrong the reasons are, it's about losing one of our members; I will respect her decision, and already sent her a private e-mail and told her to think about it, maybe seeing how the discussion evolved from 'another world'...it works sometimes to be out of our body and see what's happening in the real world, you know what I mean?
People, with this in mind I think that 'personal issues' can be settled in a way or another. If not, you know that I will respect her decision.

And now, let's all party!

Gio, per favore, who told you I wanted to sign off? I am happy as a clam; I think it's just something that somebody has really blown out of proportion and my "this is going to be it" meant only that I wouldn't take more space of time on the forum about this issue. Kumbaya all the way!

I apologize for the spat: I did not start it, and surely it's not pleasant to be addressed that way for reason I still fail to comprehend. As you can read, right this time I hadn't said anything untoward. But if someone insults me in a public forum without a good reason, that someone is going to get it.

Non ti preoccupare, I'm not going anywhere because I didn't do anything. Forza Milan!!! 8) 8)
