Who knows whether he's read it or not (I personally don't care).
Sting and Stewart are different animals. They operate differently. Stewart's always been more outspoken because that's the kind of person he is. Whereas Sting puts his thoughts down in verse, Stewart's come flying out of his mouth. And, we know that's gotten him in some deep shit. (*ahem* Madam President)
The mistaken myth that The Boys hate each other will persist long after all three of them are gone. The only thing some people think they know about them is that tension. In fact, a co-worker asked me about it only yesterday (I set her straight). "The old tempers flared" sells more books than "We had group hugs and our wives thought it was sweet."
Yeah, he has taken plenty of jabs at Sting. But, for every one jab, he's said 2 complementary things. He admits to loving the man like a brother. He even put him in the liner notes on his anthology after his own beloved brother Ian, "To my brothers Miles, Ian, Sting and Andy."
Maybe all the shit that went down with the anger and frustration during Ghost and Synch weighed much heavier on Stewart than it did on Sting. And, time may not necessarily heal all wounds. Sting does admit here he's difficult to work with.
Bottom line, I don't think Sting really cares what Stewart says, and, yes, Stewart can be an asshole about things he says. BUT, when it comes to Sting, he (along with Andy) is unequivilically qualified to say them.
Good article BTW.
Stewart and Stanley together again!! YO!
