!!!!!!!

I was born in Virginia, so ah’m a southerner, honey
p.s. THANKX EQ!!
Y'all should've heard the roar in John Paul Jones Arena Charlottesville VIRGINIA when Stewart claimed his 'Virginian-ess' to all of us after the others left the stage! Brought the house down....
As far as us Southerners go, at least in my neck of the woods we would definately have our very different opinions, political & otherwise, but respected each others' right to have those AND still remain good friends. Been here in Ohio for years, and have found that to NOT be the case here. And I mean Left, Right, Conservative, Liberal, Believer, Non-Believer, the intolerance is consistent across the board. Whew! And they don't start to dance unless drunk-shheesh!
It was nice to hear Stewart tout his Southern roots. Now, if he has a little New Jersey too, that would make him REALLY just about perfect! Thnx for the interview link.

Stewart's father, Miles Copeland Jr., was a MAJOR supproter of George Bush the first. Supported Bush over Reagan in the 1980 Republican primary and then did various things I don't recall in the 1988 election, so it is no wonder that the son voted for George H.W. Bush in 1988 and 1992.

I didn't know that bin Laden went to the same school as Stewart.

ETA: Stewart was born in Alexandria, Virginia, right accross the Potamic from Washington DC. It is much more DC than Virginia and onyl couts as the south by a technicality. I live near Alexandria and almost no one there thinks of themselves as souther by the fact they live there.

ETA2: From the wikipedia page for Stewart father, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miles_Copeland,_Jr..
In 1988, Copeland wrote an article titled "Spooks for Bush" which asserted that the intelligence community overwhelmingly supported George H.W. Bush for President; Bush had run the CIA during the 1970s under Gerald Ford.
Note that the father is Miles Jr. The brother is Miles III.

I know that NOW folks in NoVa don't see themselves as 'Southern'-abloody ton of transplants these days-, but even back in the early to mid 80's, when I was at VPI (that's VA Tech to the non-natives), the majority of 'NoVa-ians' I was in schoo w/ did call themselves Southerners, just Northern Southerns
Times change, now we're trying to find a way to put up that invisible fence just north of Warrenton, where the tax $$ slide thru, but NoVA stays put    Of course, that is the home of Fugazi, and rockin' homegrown punk/new wave scene back in the day...........
