I see that there is an ebay listing of Stewart's Ben Hur Live soundtrack plus the program.

Opening bid is a low GBP 0.99. Has one bidder so far.

Great deal (no, I was not the winning bidder), especially given that the soundtrack alone is pretty fucking good

Haha! Sorry to bring up an old thread. Smax's comment in another thread sent me on a google search for the Ben Hur soundtrack, and one of the top links led... right back here!

Am I correct in guessing this was only a limited promotional release of some sort?

That wasn't how it was supposed to be, but it is the effect.

The CDs were to be sold at shows and eventually on the on-line store. However, when one of the show's backers went bankrupt, the shows stopped and the store went down.

So the only times you could get the CDs as I understand it were at the handful of shows that happen.

after my comments, jedson, i made sure that i listened to it again........ and it is pretty good, you just gotta play it loud so all the subtleties are heard.

didnt realise that the CD was no longer available, that series of events sucks... maybe la-la land records should be told, they may want to pick it up........ i didn't realise that some shows were cancelled at the time either....

The Ben Hur Live website, www.benhurlive.com, is back up. It had been down for several months. It says that the postponned shows will have new dates soon.

The Merchandising window still doesn't have the CD though. It was was supposed to be available there, although it never has been.

To me it looks even worse.
According to http://www.art-concerts.de/ there may be the slim chance that at least the show in Gelsenkirchen will take place some time in 2011.
But I highly doubt that...

The website itself was always up I think (at least the German website www.benhurlive.de).
The news about the new dates is pretty old (start of 2010).

The Merchandising window still doesn't have the CD though. It was was supposed to be available there, although it never has been.

And it will probably never be...try to grab a copy on Ebay, sometimes a copy pops up there.

Sorry to hear what rhoeckel posted. I know the English languge site was down for a while but that may be the only positive change and insignificant by itself.

So I have been convinced to go from opptimistic to passimistic on the likelihood of the show (and the CD) seeing fresh light again.
