And for the SoCal Nutters, Holdsworth is playing at the Baked Potato on October 10 and 11 with Gary Husband (Level 42) on drums and Jimmy Johnson on bass.

Here is the only clip I've ever seen from this line-up. Supposedly from November 2008. HD camera but unfortunately still hard to see anything.

ETA I strongly suspect this clip is actually from December 2008
ETA2 You can construct a tank using the metal from Terry's cymbals. Man!

Nice video (haven't seen it all) thanks EQ.

Yes. Holdsworth is back to playing his Steinberger. He had been playing a different headless guitar for awhile (the make escapes me for the moment).

ETA The headless he had been playing was a custom model by Bill DeLap. Holdsworth has stated in interviews that he likes to use the Steinberger when he plays in Japan (which is where the clip is from) because the size makes it easy to travel with. However, when I saw him play in SoCal (not too far from where I understand he currently lives) not long ago, he was still playing the Steinberger, so I suspect his current choice of guitar is based on more than mere portability.

I love the Steinbergers. Someday I'll may get a bass. Perhaps.

If you do, make sure to get a vintage one. The word is that the new basses by them are not nearly as good as the older models.

Yes, I wanted a L2 but since they're the oldest (and may the ones wich work the worstest) I'll try to get a XL2. I don't like the new basses like Synapse and I'm sure they don't sound like the vintage models because they're made of wood.

The bass player in my first band had a Steinberger - and the technique to back it up. Did that thing ever sound suh-weet!!!

Yeah, EQ - Terry's cymbals are 50% of the attraction for me (his supreme musicianship the other 50% of course). I only wish they were still black. Still, the DW's he's got now are soooo much better than the Remo kit he used back in the day. Sounded like tin cans. What was he thinking???

What does this post have to do with STEWART?

Not much, but check this out:

From Stanley Clarke's "If This Bass Could Only Talk," its STEWART with Allan Holdsworth:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKWOTCepBXs

It took me some time to warm up to it, but now I just LUUUUUUUV it. So Stewart without really getting in your face with his Stewart-ness.
