A few photos & videos from Ben Hur Live, uh, live

that clip from Oberhausen made me realize that I was definitely in the "wrong" preview
what I've seen was the very first complete show in front of an audience, but it didn't include Stewart

apparently there was a 2nd show in the evning with Stewart as a narrator
the chariot race was cancelled that evening
the horses were too exhausted
(and one stuntman had injured himself during the 1st show)

so, good to have seen a full preview
too bad Stewart's steps are so "secret" even to the people on his website...

I've read in some review that the show was boring! Huh, you can say a lot about the show: that it was camp, kitsch, bad, good, crazy, amazing, but there is NO WAY you can call it boring

Smudge: did you kiss the driver?? I believe I would

Thanks so much for the pics and vid, Maud. *sigh* I think I will definitely have a good cry if I don't get to see this live at some point, myself!

Still trying to collect my thoughts from such an incredible week. Will post my musings when (and if) I can get it all to make sense!!!

In the meantime, here are some photos and a couple of poor quality videos.

But most of all I want to say huge thanks to all those wonderful people who made this such a special week :P

Don't worry - the BH shows will hit North America next year.
The organizers are still in the planning phase but I'm pretty sure they will hit the American market.

Hi folks,
I saw the Saturday afternoon performance and also had the impression that most of Stewart's narration parts are pre-recorded. He's just not used to mime to some playback so he always moved his head quite strangely so that the audience should not find out he's not talking 'live'...
but here and there he didn't synchronize at 100% when pretending to speak.

So, as I don't think he has learned the quite long text passages by heart, I guess that ALL of his narration was pre-recorded...and by watching the little video clips our beloved nutters have made this impression is growing on me.

Cheers,
Rüdiger

Who doesn't love a pooping horse.

SC striding around in black -- wooooooooooooo indeed!

It looks like a good time was had by all.

Read some scathing reviews...ouch! Don't know what they were expecting.
Lighten up people!

at least Stewart's microphone is turned on

during the premiere on September 17 - when he got on that horse you could hear him breathing before the narration went on
