I've never been to NAMM but as far as trade shows, it brings so many cool musicians for demos and clinics...were those a new line set up for the show or were those his? They probably gave it to him but I haven't seen them elsewhere--cool pics!

Looks like Starclassic /drools :) but rare color?

I personally love the Royal Walnut colored Star Classics he's recently used. I have the same colored maple Snare and it is gorgeous. Eventually my whole kit will get replaced with it.

These were his very first Starclassics. I think the color was called "Honey Gold." There are some good pics in the November 2001 issue of Modern Drummer. He used this kit to record the Oysterhead CD (there's at least one photo of it on the Oysterhead site as well).

Let's see - Royal Blue, Silver, Midnight Blue, the "Brown" kit (coffee, carmel, walnut, whatever) Imperialstars...

Then the really dark green Artstars;

Then the Honey Gold, Green Sparkle, Burgundy, "Volcanic Fire," and finally Blue Sparkle Starclassics.

That's 10 kits. So he can have 3 more children (2 if he absolutely refuses to share). :lol:

The Blue one is my favorite.

I love the 2005 "Volcanic Fire" Exotix set.
I believe it's featured in the August 2006 of MD.

I think the nicest kit was the tama superstar super mahogany he used for the recording of zenyatta, also you get to see this kit quite often in the police around the world film.

Thanks for the clarification, Secret. I always suspected they were Superstars, but I never knew what the finish was called. Mahogany makes sense. They sounded really good. You could tell they were a little brighter than the Imperialstars.

Jackie, this is the one I called "carmel." Someone else in the forum called it "coffee." Sorry for the confusion.

I think 'orange' works just fine--they are gorgeous :) It's funny that Imperialstars are what Tama sells as their entry level kit now...they have some gorgeous stuff out this year, but I'd better be happy to have my Swingstar for now...I love those "brown" or walnut Starclassics too...but if I was to get a set (dreaming, now) it'd have to be the SC maple in coral blue /drools! Great breakdown, Zilboy--I think it would be a sweet task to catalog all of Stewart's kits with pics!

Mine is Midnight Blue 24x18 BD, 16x16 FT, 13x10 and 12x10 RTs...I'd like some smaller toms but heh :) I like it, especially since my hubby surprised me with it without telling me he got Midnight Blue Tama's not even knowing f-all what Stewart played :) He found them on closeout (major bargain hunter, he is) since Tama was about to replace that line with the Imperialstars.

Wraps are well applied (2 yrs and no bubbles, etc) and even though I am a sucker for pretty laminate finishes I think they look great and I like the sound--replace the heads (e.g. pinstripe tops and ambassador bottoms) and if it comes with planet z cymbals replace them when you can--I plan on using the 'crash/ride' as a clock by finding a set of hands to put in the middle as soon as I can afford to...grin

But then again I white-knuckle the lugs and play with noise-cancelling headphones, mostly to music...so maybe they would make others ears bleed but I like the sound under those conditions! :)
