Amazing 'Message In A Bottle' from Sting

Hi there, I'm back...did you miss me? I don't think so...anyway...

Sting played an amazing version (or three amazing versions to tell the truth) of 'Message In A Bottle' on his Italian three-concerts tour! He can slightly change a few things and the versions become different from one show to another...keeping always high the attention even from listeners like me (that could even be at 100 shows).

I can tell each night there were variations in the use of the voice, with such a great rendition every night! This is what I love, to listen to him adapting the mood of the moment to the rendition of the song, if you know what I mean.... Rome and Florence were both great shows, while MIlan I felt like Edin Karamazov and Sting didn't 'match each other', even if the show was succesful (you never know how a show can turn out every night).
The whole show is amazing anyway, even if I am not completely into this repertoire; I never listen to the cd, I have to be sincere, and I always tell myself that this music wasn't done to be put on record...it was a live experience, and I think that despite the record was done with such a great research and cleverness, I do really prefer the live rendition of the songs; the voice is amazing!!!

A couple of big and warm hugs from Sting in Florence and Rome made my journey, together with the shows of course, but I didn't have the chance to talk to him about The Police issue due to lack of time (and tension backstage sometimes); he knows we alwasy got some time to talk, maybe in the near future, maybe who knows...

Very cool. I think he loves 'Message' the most of all the songs from The Police. But that's just me.

I'll be seeing him twice in the next two weeks and I'm very much looking forward to it. Could you tell me roughly how long the concerts were? Did they have a support act?

the shows lasted around 1,15 hrs... no support act, but you can consider that an opening 15 minutes of Edin only performance can be considered as a 'support act'... or maybe just an intro.

Yes, I was at the three Italian shows, and each night I paid Euro 86,00...front row each night.

Ciao, bello! That seems like a bargain for such a show and I bet front row was worth it--sounds like a great time! I am a total rock chick, but if you see these shows as something entirely different, I bet its a great time Glad to hear Sting's voice truly is as good as I thought from the Rehearsals and Grammy shows, too!

What other bands do you like, Gina? I bet we have some tastes in common. Mine are more toward the punk end of the spectrum than the metal end, though...also I like a lot of world music and other weird stuff...actually checked some theremin records out of the library the other day and have been listening the heck out of my shortwave radio lately. I'm picking up some strange transmission from Asia that's got my imagination captivated...

I'd say my taste varies widely and depending on day...was heavy into 2nd wave punk for years after friend bought me Dead Kennedy's Bedtime for Democracy in 7th grade...after that, I have spent pretty much most of my spare (and not so spare) money on music, in some form or another!

Gio, sounds like a great show. I wish he would take it back to the US and let paying customers in, not just contest winners. But, I think I'll take the Police for now! I have to buy the dvd but it's not on Amazon. I guess I have to drag myself to a Barnes & Noble.

In Florence he played at Teatro Verdi, a very nice place.

There is no reason to ask for free tickets to Sting.
