La Jolla With Stewart

La Jolla With Stewart

Postby musinggrai on 07 Sep 2009 00:17

I realize I am new somewhat here and could be torn to shreds.

But it was really fun hanging with the nutters.

We kayaked, we drank in a way too expensive bar overlooking the Pacific (if you leaned the right way), and we met at Jose's and at Rapongi's by the firepit. We saw Stewart at Rapongis as well as at the place where the movie was held and the night after, the concert was some of the best sound I have ever heard. It was amazing. And it was like Cacoon. All the old people that hold lifetime memberships to the La Jolla Music Society started moving, tapping, and gave him a standing ovation at the end. With all of us young folk. FANTASTIC in caps. I kept the eastcoast section, The Police Contingent (small gasp), we have all been friends for a few years now and now got to play on the west coast.

A small story while I am here of what happened:

I was at the screening the night before. Hans was late. I was cursing him, thinking I might miss the movie I have already seen many times. He found a place to park and came running up. I loved him. We entered the lobby and it was all deserted. Nobody but us in there. I looked over by the T shirts. A tall grey haired man looked over at us. It was him! I beamed like a kindergartener school child to look at him directly, he saw me light up and beamed back a sweet smile, us all alone. Holy Mother Of God! Then I tripped over my sandal trying to get away from the brightness, and Hans joined me.

We disappeared into the theatre, and Stewart behind us, he was 5 seats away when the lights came up for the Q and A.

Dive and Conroy, write me... this site is way too vast.

It was a pleasure meeting you, too, Musing. Nutters are the coolest people to hang with in my opinion. I didn't catch your email back in La Jolla but my email is conroy_jett at hotmail dot com.

Sockii!

Hi!

Never will forget you as the virtual bartender at the first Saturday Night Police Party. Enjoyed meeting you in person as well. What are you up to? You are for me total Primal Police. Well. A few years later on, but you know what I mean.

xoxo

Conroy, incoming received.

A third of the emoticons are blocked out for me. I can't find what I need. Does this happen for you guys?

I hadn't heard that one Musie! Nice :)

I had a funny happen when I met him as well... I might as well have tripped over my sandal and then shoved it in my mouth. I'm debating about putting it in this thread or just posting another one as everyone else has done.

I loved seeing you and Hans, sweetie!

Ok Muse

my 1st little story:
It was after the movie [Everyone Stares] and after the Q&A [Stewart's interview]...
We all wondered out slowly to the lobby [as I do after any Police/Police member show].
I gasped [air sucked out of room] and saw that Stewart was taking a seat at the table to do some signing and such. I think I was kind of frozen as many many many people kept going up to him to say, take or etc.
Suddenly a path cleared and I was right in front of him! [At some point in between this he was standing in front of me, just inches away] My cow eyes must have been the size of trash can lids cuz I think it was about 10 thousand years as I stared into his face with my mouth a gasp and nothing coming out.
I think I could read the look on his face: maybe I should say something, is she retarded?
Suddenly the synapses starting firing and I gingerly held out my ticket and asked if he would sign it. [Thats it? thats the best ya got???] He took it from my hand and signed it so generously and then made his escape to another person.
It took all I had to turn away and realize that my moment with Stewart was over.
Til tomorrow night my sweet.

Luv ya Moo-zie! couldnt of been done without you.

Nutters are great! I loved being with each of you and hope that something comes about every year for us to be able to reunite in such a splendid way. The fact that each encounter just seems like such a bonus in life continues to propel my desire for more, more, more...
keepin' da beat, Yo!

with profound reverence,
vinxy

Hey Musie! Gotta stop by more often.

Sweet story! If Hansy hadn't been running late, you wouldn't have had your special moment :-)
I'm sure Stewart loves those genuine moments too.

I'm glad we all had a little time to hang out after the screening and show.

Bets, you gotta tell your story, too.
Stewart and Stanley together again!! YO!

OK... short story:

There were so many people after the movie, I wasn't even going to go up to him, but I decided that if I didn't take the shot, I'd miss yet another opportunity to finally meet the guy. So, I just strode through and stuck my hand out to shake his, and said "Hi, Stewart, I'm Betsy". He said hello, and then I say "Policerule".

Now, you all know what this means, but as soon as the word was out of my mouth, I realized how it must sound to him... like I'm telling him (hippie voice) "Police rule, man". He just sort of looked at me for a second like I was an idiot and then we were all moving in for a group photo, so I didn't even explain that it was my name on sc.net.

Betsy, that story is righteous.
