That composer forum that they said he was doing and then said he wasn't doing? Yeah, he's doing it. Right now.

Athenaeum Music & Arts Library
1008 Wall St., La Jolla, CA 92037 (858) 454-5872

Probably too late for most, but in case you're tripping past.

Thank the Twitterverse (and the lady on the phone) for the info.

Fortunately yeah. Well, late, but yeah. Luckily whoever runs the Athenaeum Twitter account made a couple of comments, but when I saw them they were already half an hour or so old, so I picked up the phone.

Of course, when phone lady confirmed I then texted everyone I had numbers for. One bounced (can't tell which), but better that folks were informed late rather than never.

I'm jealous that I can't be there, of course, but it's probably good that I wasn't cuz otherwise a bunch of folks would never have known.

I think that sucks the info got to everyone late. Peeps would have showed up to support had they been properly informed. I hope things get better. I know my loudmouth would be going off for sure....lol.

Aw hell. Hope someone got the APB and managed to hear a little of it at the end. Guess we're not going to get a blow by blow this time though. Anyone that snuck in late - the stay-at-homes would love to hear a summary when you get a minute. Also - and this is just idle curiosity - would be interested to know a little about the audience composition. That's a curious panel: did you get a sneaky peek at the folks who knew about it in advance and were there for other participants? Bit of a different front row from savannah I guess!

Any news is interesting news - so news please :-)

I did feel bad for the lady on the phone describing the guests, so I assured her that I can't say "Tsontakis" either.

BTW, one sliver of the conversation from the inside, i.e., from the library Twitterer him-/herself:

http://twitter.com/athmusicandarts/status/3435448880

Copeland talking about how America kicks ass b/c of our confluence of cultures. "The strongest breed is a mongrel," he says.

A few people got in, apparently, but I havent personally heard details yet. We're meeting in a half hour and I or someone else with a Web-enabled Iphone will update, I'm sure.

What. a. Drag. also not to know if he'll be at the Q&A tonight...some folks are going but others of us are gonna go see Green Day, who we know for sure will be there...

At least there's still the main event tomorrow night.

Can I just say it's such a drag that not everyone is here, too...u are missed!!

Well, we made it for that part!

There was also some discussion about "oral" and "hummers", but not in the context you'd like to think. ;)

Excellent news. I'm guessing that this isn't leading to tales of people sucking on the exhaust pipes of fuel-inefficient road vehicles. Which is a pity.

ETA: Dive - don't be maudlin about absent folks, missus. Enjoy! And post tales of shennanigans. I think I speak for many of the stay-at-homes when I say that a second hand shennanigan is a thing of beauty. If you can get Chatchka to text a running commentary while she's a little squiffy, so much the better. :-)
