Is it time for a LA JOLLA show of hands???

First off, I can't believe I have contributed, and in fact seemingly encourgaged, a discussion of fashion issues here at the forum. Never my intention.

Second, Dive has a good point. San Diego area is cooler than you would expect, especially close to ocean, as La Jolla is. It is south and California but there is often a cool breeze coming from the ocean that makes it bit chilly. It is nothing like the freakish coldness that you sometimes have in San Francisco, but it can make sweaters seem like a good idea, even in August. (And there I go again, discussion clothing, which leads some to discussion fashion stuff  )

any interest in going?

Marilyn Manson is also playing on the 22nd (Saturday)

Heh. Nancy & I already discussed this ;) Here's my compromise:

Megs & I already have tix. Let us know if anyone else is in.

Wouldn't mind seeing another band, but it'll depend on cost, most likely.

We can buy tix online or just wait and grab them at the door. They are $32 in advance or $35 the night of. I'm all for waiting until we get there and just grabbing GA tix. Don't forget that we'll be traveling all day and might not be very spry later in the day. I love The Cult though, so I'm running on a 95% chance that I'll make it. They are performing their album "Love" in it's entirety. AWESOME.

Prule, GA day of show works for me. I'm planning to operate as though I'm on EST even though I'll be on Pacific -- we'll see how well that works!

In general, I'm up for going to see a show every night I'm there. This whole trip is all about music. YAY!

I am only going to be in California for 2 nights, Thursday and Friday, and will have to pass on the other shows. No Cult for me, although some friends beleive I am part of a Stewart Copeland cult.

Good luck with that. That will be a challenge with evening PDT shows and psot-show get togethers on a EDT body clock.

Bets, were talking about skipping the movie anyway. At the rate he's going, dunno whether Stew's going do the Q&A anyway.

Call me a dork. Call me a dweeb, but I don't know The Cult or Green Day and I don't want to spend every night that we have together at a show. But, I can compromise. Does anyone else feel this way?

I think one night of drinking (free ouzo, tequila) and karaoke are required, right?

I still want to go to the Movie if there is going to be Q&A. But I can be flex too.

Hmmmm. I may grab a GD ticket after all - they're cheap, like $60 even with Ticketbastard fees - and then go late. Tho I've not seen Franz Ferdinand, I'll get to Tuesday in L.A. This is only if everyone else is going to the movie, which I've seen at least seven times, and if SC isn't going to be there in person. Could then meet everyone to hang out after. I've also got nothing scheduled all day Friday pre-event or Saturday until the kayaking thing Bets has planned.

I do have to turn in earlyish Saturday night, since I'm going diving at 6 AM on Sunday - I know I'm nuts, but it was the only slot I could get to do the sites I wanted....gotta be in L.A. Sunday for dinner but that's only a 3-hour drive, right?

ETA: I have now bagged yet another GD ticket. Great seat, actually in the $25 levels. For that price I can either go see GD or ditch, depending on what's up. At least my current concert-tour obsession is a little less expensive than my former...;)

I will be driving down from LA on the 20th, and am also easy. And flexible. Keep me in the loop peeps, I'm not a huge GD fan but hear they put on a good show. 8)

Same here... I'm not a big enough GD fan to run to see them, but I'd consider it.
I'm really feeling The Cult though... they're one of my favorite bands, so it's going to be hard for me to pass it up.

I'm here! San Diego is loverly, but it's a wee tad chilly at night. So, do bring a jacket or sweater.

My sister says Ali Baba's Cave is a cool restaurant. It's a Mediterrean restaurant and hookah lounge and they have belly dancers a couple of nights a week. It's not far from the La Jolla area. Just throwing this out (not as a pre-show option) but as an available restaurant. Here's their website.
