Smiling broadly, Charlie Arnold walked into the diner around 3 a.m. As soon as he greeted us, his cell phone sounded to indicate a text message. He read it to himself then loudly and pleasantly announced, “It’s from my wife and I’m in deep shit. Good night!” He turned around and walked out.
My god, this woman remembers EVERYTHING!!

The shit was only semi-deep incidently. By noon the next day I was wingin' it back to Cali, once again in the good graces of my oh-so-tolerant wife.

Thanks for the memories LL. The week I spent in New York with my Police buddies is one of the best memories of my life. Thank you all for being part of it.

THANK YOU LL!! So much of the week was a blur for me - and you've brought it all back and filled in the blanks beautifully.

Well done, LL. :)

I remember several things from the Tic Toc:

- Your almost constant phone calls back and forth with your kids: one of which included you reading them the entire menu

- The parade of oh-so-obvious off-duty prostitutes that strolled in around 3:30am

- The enormous pile of sausages that Amy ordered (and yes, I have a picture)

- Collecting too much money for the bill and deciding to "give the rest to Leroy"

- CG5 and her "baleful eyeball" T-shirt that we couldn't stop cracking jokes about

- Finally saying a long, drawn-out, couldn't-put-it-off-any-longer goodbye to everyone we wouldn't see the next day on the sidewalk

- How a bunch of us watched GSC and PC walk away with their arms around each other, like a couple of newlyweds

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Miss you. :)

Yeah, I've been compared to an elephant before. I'd like to think it's because of the animal's reputed good memory and not because it is large, grey and wrinkly.

Thanks, Schmaffy, for your recollections. It felt like I was on the phone constantly at the Tic Toc. It's nice to have the third person confirmation. And how could anyone forget the baleful eyeball? It got to the point where we could not say "eye", or even "I" without becoming weak with laughter.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to read this and posting your kind words. Thank you especially to Team Italia and Stewart for giving me this place to present my writing these many months. You didn't shut me down or kick me out even though I didn't pay you any rent all year. Grazie!

Fabulous, LL. Just. Fucking. Fabulous.

You brought it all back for me, and I am now basking in the warm glow of nostalgia for what will always be one of the greatest times of my life. And, truth be told, brushing away a tear or two.

Would it be too much to suggest a bound edition of the complete saga? Seems the perfect thing to pull out and read every now and then...guaranteed to keep one young at heart well into old age!! And, of course, for having lots and lots of detail with which to bore the grandchildren!

I love you all so much!

I just had to bump this thread up. I was looking for something else and ran across it this afternoon. Such memories! I joined the Nutters in June and didn't get "authorized" until some time in July so this was one of the first threads I kept seeing; I would see the topic and wonder "what do you mean, 'I Brought The Kids'?"

I was green and I'd never been a member of an online forum and I didn't understand how to "do" this . I don't think I even knew I could read it and I certainly was afraid to post at that time! And who are these people?

So seeing this one again brought back so many fond memories and I realize how time has passed and I'm a Nutter too! So maybe some other "newbies" (who aren't really so new anymore) would like to see this topic (again!)

I absolutely, positively did not extend my lunchbreak at work today beyond reasonable limits to re-read this travelogue, Wookie literature, and an out-of-town lawyer's description of a regular ol' night in NYC.

No sir-eeee.

(Thank you!)
