La Jolla open rehearsal now cancelled

The ever observant IndyGirl spotted this and posted it in the La Jolla show of hands thread but thought it should get its own thread since now all LJ attendees may be paying attention to the other thread.

Alas, Stewart's the open rehearsal scheduled for Thursday 8/20 at 2:15 has been CANCELLED:

Stewart will presumably need to practice at some point since there are a variety of performers involved who he has never played with. So I assume the rehearsals are still on, just not open.

I am VERY bummed about this. I had been looking forward to this as much as anything. To see Stewart play for 2 and a half hours as he worked on getting his music ready for performance. I arranged my travel plans to make sure and be there for this, leaving a day earlier than I otherwise would have and getting up at 4 am EDT to catch the flight.

I suspect this can't be changed but I would love it if this could be reconsidered by the festival or by Stewart. We promise to be quiet and turn off our cell phones if that will help. Please.

So there is still the showing of Everyone Stares Thursday at 7:30 and the concert itself at 7:30 on Friday. Stewart is no longer participating in the composer's discussion scheduled for 12:30 Thursday.

I was *really* looking forward to this. Especially since he's not taking part in the composer dicussion.
We've just seen so much of Rock-Star Stewart, it was going to be enlightening to see Composer/Conductor Stewart at work. Bummer.


I wonder if he'll intro the film now. If he's not gonna do that I really don't need to see it (been there, done that).
I'm thinking Ben Hur is taking more out of him than he expected.
We'll definitely have fun seeing each other and at the show on Friday, though.

I had made earlier plans hoping to see him practice too.

I can very very very quiet. He wouldnt even know I was there. I can blend into the wallpaper.

Please Stewart reconsider.

I'm disappointed as well, but I'm just as sure as can be (without any inside info, which I suspect will be forthcoming from the usual suspects) that this is some scheduling thing related to Ben Hur. Sounds like it's gonna be a heck of a show. I'm tempted to change my own plane ticket, but watch 'em put the thing back on after all...

*bump* for those who haven't heard the news...

I did actually change my plane ticket....bummer to have less time to see people, but I did save about 300 clams between hotel room and better rate on the rental car...
