Nope, and here is the key phrase:

"The squid are too deep to bother swimmers and surfers"

Looks like they stay at the bottom and are messing with the divers only. I'm going to rely on the knowledge of the people operating the tour. They're out there every day and know what's going on. There is a month to go yet, so maybe the situation will even change by then.

Believe me, I'm not all that keen on the creatures of the deep, but I'm not missing this. I really want to see those caves from the water and I love ocean kayaking. Thanks for the info though!

Are you talking about this clip?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcKQt5hHDXg

That clip is really cool looking. But it's nary so scary, I think, if you watch it w/o sound.
Some say that moving pictures are the greatest invention of the 20th century. However, that video is nothing without the sound and some jump cuts.

Humboldt Squid! Cool! Makes me feel all Jules Verne-y.

I think yer fine, too, Bets. Doesn't look like they'll be in the shallows much.
And, honestly, honey, if you meet one of those things in the shallows, my money's on You!
And it'll be a Calamari Party back in La Jolla.

Sadly, I am out for this occasion. Too bad for me, 'cause I've wanted to Dive with Dive since I met her in NOLA, though honestly, SCUBA scares the shit out of me.

Dive, you're going to go see those things, aren't you? Yep, I bet you are. I have a feeling you'll have some tough company. Nutters vs. the Giant Squid. I love it. Legion. Take Stewart, get him to bring his Polo Hammer. It's a done deal. Nutters 42, Squid Zip.

Back to reality: I am spending way too much money to see Larry Carlton play "The Royal Scam" with, yes, Steely Dan.
Yes. It's true. WOOHOO!

Ahem.

Haha. And luckily, here in Copelandia, calamari is considered a vegetable by many vegetarians.

I'm in. I bolt first thing Saturday morning (cuz it wouldn't be a Stewart event if I actually got some fucking sleep), but mucho thanks to nancyrose and policerule, I'm in.

ETA: BTW, Amy, I have a ticket, so just in case the thought occurs: don't worry about me. Thank you.

No freakin' foolin'. Are we getting Moe also? Just wonderin'. Will be thrilled to see either or both.

OK, who's working on Supercat? She's having a rotten week, I think, so haven't been wanting to pester her, personally, but...but...

That's pretty much where I'm at. Killing me to miss it, but don't think I can afford it financially or timewise right now.

Now the likelihood of me going just increased. So I am from probably no to probably so. Really shouldn't be spending money for a trip across the country but hard to resist this and convinced mrs. njperry how much I really want to do it. Hope to know for sure in a couple of days.

Here is a list of yes hands and maybe hands from this thread. I am sure there are others who are coming but I don't know who.

3. Chatchka
4. jennym (may still be looking for a ticket)

9. Indygirl
10. irishrose1969
11. Conroy
12. Omaha_Perez
13. DirtyMartini

Maybe:
1. Larissa
2. Equalizer
3. GinaSuperCat
4. Marcela
5. njperry
