We'll be driving down on 5 and probably stay in San Diego or LA. Going for a long weekend, seeing friends and family in the meanwhile.
Prices in La Jolla are through the roof and the cities offer more possibilities, especially with Priceline and the crisis, one can get very good deals. Hopefully!

Question: I'd like to do some kayaking while we're there. I'm planning on the Saturday afternoon trip, which is probably my only opportunity while I'm there, so I'm sorry if that doesn't jive with everyone's schedule. These are clear-bottom kayaks and they tour the sea caves. I've talked to some of you about it before, but we never did make any plans. I contacted the place and they said that they do group rates, but I need to know if anyone else is interested so that I can see what the rates and availability are.

Just send an email my way if you're interested so that we aren't threadjacking here;)

Thanks!

Nope, and here is the key phrase:

"The squid are too deep to bother swimmers and surfers"

Looks like they stay at the bottom and are messing with the divers only. I'm going to rely on the knowledge of the people operating the tour. They're out there every day and know what's going on. There is a month to go yet, so maybe the situation will even change by then.

Believe me, I'm not all that keen on the creatures of the deep, but I'm not missing this. I really want to see those caves from the water and I love ocean kayaking. Thanks for the info though!

Email me when you get a minute, Bets. I may be in, depending on cost.

Also thinking seriously about an L.A. add-on...Megs, email incoming.

Whoa! Looks like I'm 100% in for L.A. also - got great deal on rental car & was able to change plane ticket with no worries whatever. Southwest is running a sale the likes of which I've never seen - I got a roundtrip from BNA for under $200, even arriving SAN and departing LAX.

SQUEEEEE! Very nearly a full week of Nutter fun! This'll be a blast...
