Mini Flag's Trip to Italy (w/pics)

I had a companion on my recent trip to Italy. He's little and green and never gave me any grief about where we went. That's right, Prince Michael Mini Flag II...d'oh!( I keed, I keed RIP MJ), uh, Mini Flag joined me on the voyage. Ever since Mini Flag Pere was believed lost in the the Great Stampede in the bowels of Madison Square Garden, Junior has been chomping at the bit to break out on his own. As soon as my plane tickets were purchased and my bag was packed, Mini Flag Fils jumped out of his place in my Police/Stewart momento box and into the camera case.

So, like tourists everywhere, Mini Flag posed with some of the most recognizable sights in Italy. Mini also got a chance to hang with some of our European Nutter buds. Of course, this only represents a wee, small, tiny number of wonderful things to see in Italy. For your perusal:

Rome:

Everyone recognizes the Colosseum. That's where the gladiators fought animals and each other in bloody, gruesome battles. It was all the craze.

St. Peter's Square is in Vatican City. MF (Mini Flag) and I took the Jump On/Off bus tour and had just crossed the Tiber when I heard "a church" bell ringing the hour. Then it dawned on my which church the bells were coming from. D'oh!

Back across the Tiber we jumped off the bus and wandered over to the Spanish Steps. I guess they're always packed with people. And, a little green flag once in a while.

Turin:

The Mole Antoniellio was originally intended to be a synagogue but when funds ran out it was repurposed. It's currently the home of the Museo Nazionale del Cinema and has a glass elevator that goes up to a roof top observation deck. You can see the Alps in the distance from there.

Milan:

Galleria Vittoria Emanuele II is a covered shopping area off of the Piazza Del Duomo.

We went to La Scala Opera House to see the Pink Floyd Ballet. It doesn't look like much from the outside. But it's pretty swanky inside!

Il Duomo is a Gothic cathedral in the center of Milan. It's the 3rd largest church in the world.
You can go up on the roof and take in the view of the city. I think OSHA would have major issues with that, but it sure was cool.

The day of the Milan Taranta show I went to see The Last Supper at Santa Maria delle Grazie. They're pretty picky since the famous fresco is deteriorating so Mini Flag couldn't have his picture taken in front of it. So, we settled for the building that it's in.

And, there's lots of Nutters, too!

Amy, that was a hoot. You and Mini Flag are priceless. Thanks for sharing your tour with us. I'm surprised MF didn't wreck the place. He's mellowed over the year. But it looks like he still did some pretty extensive dammage to The Colleseum.

Thanks for sharing the photos, Amy & David. It seems Mini Flag didn't get too out of control. Amy, it looks like you & Mini Flag were able to see some good sights. Glad you had a good trip.
