I stopped watching after they killed off my favorite character last season, and after getting the sense the writers/PTPB didn't give a shit about how invested their viewers became in these characters in pursuit of shock value/"edginess".

Having now seen a huge portion of my on-line friends in shock, rage and depression over what happened in these new episodes, I'm very glad for my decision to disengage in the show when I did.

Literally in tears from part four...are you f*in kidding me, not *****!!!!!! Am a huge fan but it seems to be a show writing its way to a known and definite end, without leaving openings (unlike Firefly, say, or TW season 1)...

I know I couldn't believe the end of part 4! He'll be back though, otherwise it's just Jack and Gwen. Then it would be to much like The Doctor, and his companion. Plus I checked imdb, and Gareth David-Lloyd is listed as being in episode 5, I'm gong to take that as he's coming back. Jack and Ianto are so cute, the show wouldn't be the same without them.

Another show that left a big open ending: Carnivale.

Oh since I won't see this episode until sometime tomorow. When someone finds out what happens to Ianto, let me know if he lives, if he dosen't... don't tell me and I'll let myself believe no one bothered to tell me.

I thought it was well done, at least--a quality story to carry over 5 specials...I know the argument abounds that TW arc was supposed to be darker in accordance with the mythology but the first two seasons were lighter and campier and stylish, which I liked...

Anyhooo, Mrs. G I think I remember you a huge David Tennant fan, and I was just reading about how he is slated to have a role (not just the initially rumored cameo) in the Sarah Jane Chronicles as the Dr. which made my morning! You probably already know, but just in case I thought I'd give it a mention.

Sock, I now understand the hubbub.
Another show that left a big open ending: Carnivale.
Side topic: Carnivale was meant to run for 5 or 6 seasons and had been plotted out for it, but sadly, got canceled in only season 2, so they had to try and squish a lot of future ideas into that second season and leave most things hanging. Made for a bit of a mess that second season, which is sad because I thought the show had real meat to it. (And I love Clancy Brown. Dorky name, but killer voice.) I was really hoping a Carnivale movie might follow (à la Firefly/Serenity), but alas, nothing.
Dramatic highlights & a unique musical cosmos. Guaranteed.

And speaking of Clancy Brown, he also appeared in the great, but under appreciated series "Breaking News" that Stewart scored which aired on Bravo several years ago. I really wish they would release it on DVD.

Yeah, I read that Tennant would be on Sarah Jane's show. I'll deff watch it when he's on, but I don't like the show it's self. Let me know when it comes up, incase I miss it?

So anyone who watched episode five, do you think there will be a season four? I read that there will, as long as season five is popular...but the way it ended? And one of my favorite characters gone?

Carnivale was a good show, it definatley needed more seasons, though. Has there ever been a mention of what the rest of the story line would have been?

Well just my 2c...RTD said that he is ready for series 4 whenever BBC decides but 3 was so apocalyptic that it seems to me, at least, highly prepared to end the series without a bunch of loose threads in the case it isn't renewed (without a need for a full-length film). If it is, I suppose its entirely consistent with the story to get a new cast, as TW never indeed has been exactly a long-term career, and so team turnaround is part of the gig...How they are going to find chars as good as *, *, and * is beyond me, they were class...
