Yesterday while walking to the celebration at sea strand park for the 4th celebrations. I slipped in some water eating concrete and twisted weird. As a result I am in a knee imobilizer and on crutches with a tear to my MCL. How severe I won't know til next week when I see the orthopedic surgeon and get an M R I done. This morning they did x ray to make sure I did not break a bone they saw a jagged area in the x ray that they were not sure of. Based on initial exam they said it is very possible it is a tear. So I am resting and icing and dying of boredom.
Walking on crutches is quite the challenge as it is.
Major bummed out. The kids are totally sweet and waiting on me hand and foot..ha ha.

Oh No! Shannon, I am so sorry to hear that you were hurt. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the injuries aren't that bad. Here's hoping for the best possible scenario when you find out more next week. Keep us posted, sweetheart!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and well wishes. This place is definitely helping me keep my chin up. All the new pics and videos that have surfaced. Thank gong for them. It takes my mind off stuff. I had just last week taught Ian how to ride his bike w\o training wheels and I bought a bike to start riding with him. Oh well. Until I am better.

Hey Shannon! Sorry to hear of your accident. What a bummer! I've heard that it is not easy to walk with crutches. I hope all turns out okay. Sending hugs and good wishes.

I'm sorry to hear about your mishap. I tore my MCL in high school and know how painful it is. I ended up getting surgery and was in a hip to toe cast for six weeks. It caused me to miss The Police when they came to town in the summer of '83. I was disappointed but told myself that I'd see them on their next tour. Who'd have guessed that I'd have to wait 25 years to fulfill that promise to myself.
The surgery, if it comes to that, is much simpler these days. It just requires a small incision and the recovery time is a lot shorter.
Still, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's not that serious. Take care of yourself.

Today I made an appt with the orthopedic clinic for thursday at 9 a.m and got my x rays from the radiologist. The x rays came back normal. The inflammation has gone down some.
Will let ya know more on Thursday.
Keeping fingers crossed its not that bad.

I have a possible tear to my miniscus and a sprain to my mcl and am off work til aug 6 when I get reassessed and mri done.
Ugh. Still on crutches as needed.
