Michael Jackson was the first celebrity I ever saw that looked like me, this was back in 1970. By the mid 70's my brother and I would watch the Jackson 5 cartoons the Crazy Afros ahhhhhhhh. Of course there is so much to say but I will say that despite what society said and how society treated us Michael made us understand (as children)it did not matter if we where black just by the joy in his smile

Most of the times we don't understand why the world is so bad with the ones who tried to make it a better world.
Most of the times we forget that behind that smile was a man with a dream.
Most of the times I just ignore unaproppriate comments about MJ from people who think the're the owners of the world.
I've been arguing with a musician about MJ this days and I felt so sad with that musician cause he never stopped to look twice to MJ.
He judge him, he condemned him for what he called a "ruined face". where's mercy? where's faith? where's the human race?
I spent the last two hours crying in my couch with my kids around me in silence. nothing else to say in a moment like that...

Not gonna lie, I spent the whole afternoon in front of the tv crying like a baby. It was a beautiful memorial finished by one of the most beautiful tributes from a young child to her parent I've ever seen.

He will be deeply missed by many. Thank you, Michael.

Sincerely I never believed anything the media said about Michael Jackson (in this place we learned something about what medias can create, or 'reutered', right?).

Sincerely I kept on telling to my friends for years that a man like MJ was an easy one to take some money out of his pockets with lies and strange stories.

Sincerely last year I bought the 25th anniversary edition of 'Thriller' as a respect to someone who made an incredible piece of the music history.

I sincerely think he had psicological difficulties to relate to a real world as we intend, like every child who never lived his childhood.

A talented man, a great singer, a great musician, a great author: something nobody will never deny.

Me, too. I admit I think some of the coverage is a bit ghoulish - way too much attention to those kids on the worst day of their lives - ABCNews is running an "expose" right now with the big news - surprise! - that the kids appear perfectly normal.

As far as the legal challenges Jackson faced, I was just reminding someone on another website - again - that Jackson was tried and exonerated. I just can't believe how many people are prepared to convict him based on the media circus, believing that somehow they know more than the jurors in the case, despite the proven personal vendetta of Tom Snedden, the DA prosecuting Jackson.

As far as tearing up, if that gorgeous coffin didn't get you right off the bat, Stevie Wonder did. FYI - there are plenty of T-shirts printed for the 02 gig for sale over at http://michaeljackson.shop.bravadousa.com. I really liked the one with young Michael, though I admit I bought the one that shows him from the back, out of the limelight, as well.

Weird. i was reading your posts and facebook posts today. I didn't watch the coverage.

It is strange to me that someone I knew died, and there is very public mourning and I feel so strangely removed.
Michael was strange. And his "organization" was very difficult to work for, but he was always sweet.respectful. well mannered and very very child like.

What Gio has said is more like the truth than just about anything I have ever read. I worked for Michael amidst the shitstorm of accusations, and it was all unfathomable. Because it didn't seem like one child could hurt another- and he was frozen in a semi-childlike state.

Nowadays, I recognized MJ amazing contribution to music and lyrics... I prefer their first album to the rest before changing his appeal transformation... I think he had a big hearth and clean soul... I read he was the first to open MTV to afro-americans, and made himself an icon into the Pop culture perhaps thats why some hidden insterests wants to destroy his reputation and career... I mean he was the first afro-american celebrity that climbed the peak of the powerfull music entertainment and that is dangerous for some conservatives and freaking apartheid minds that not tolerate anything different of what they manage into masses psico strategies... I imagine Michael Jackson know that... thats why he wants to break barriers for climbing the top of the tops with any cost... Nobody knows with his return to stages another big destruction campaign could be run to ruin him definetely... Now, I know he wrote great lyrics, has an outstanding talent, and had a great soul that support lot of benefit campaingns and fundrasings... Yeah also lot of tears covered me in many passages of his memorial, but also I understand that finally he will rest in peace with the recognition of world.

I heard on the radio today that he gave $500 million to charity. $500 million. Just a boggling amount of money, and without which his estate would be out of debt.

Thanks for the 2 cents, Meg. Good to know that someone whose judgment I trust and who knew the man is also convinced of his innocence. I always thought the whole thing was like the Ken Starr trial, myself...a big pile of taxpayer money flushed down the crapper and for no real good reason.

Mr. Dive keeps repeating the similarity between the Jackson trial and the West Memphis 3 case, in which a couple of kids are sitting on death row, unjustly accused of child murders they didn't commit because they wore black clothes and listened to death metal. You gotta figure Jackson being "weird" and wearing masks & stuff contributed to people convinced of his guilt. But somehow he beat the rap, despite the 100% white jury. Why that doesn't make people consider the case was probably pretty weak, I'll never know.

The only semi-downside? I've been earwormed with "We Are the World" for the past 24 hours or so. I've been sick of that song for 20 years. But damned if it doesn't sum up a whole lot of what Jackson did right.
