The Maestro Conquers Milan

The Maestro Conquers Milan

The show is Milan was great tonight. No rain (ok, maybe a few sprinkles), Stewart was on fire and I met a bunch of new Nutters. Today's Taranta adventure begins when I gave Giovanni a ring after coming back to the room from seeing Il Duomo. It's an incredilble cathedral with flying buttresses, spires and stained glass windows. You can go up onto the roof and get a great view of the city. Well, worth a visit if you're ever in Milan. But, I digress... So I ring up Gio. He had mentioned something about meeting at the rehearsal. I take a tram to the park and get there in time to watch the last couple of songs and see Eugenio onstage taking pictures along with some other photographers while they're playing. Rehearsal ends and I run into Miguel, Toni, Xavier, Ilbolchini, Lidia and her friend Barbara. It's a veritable Nutterpalooza!! We're representin' tonight! So, we hang together until show time. The musicians come out and we run to the railing and start clapping and bouncing along with the music. Woooooooo! Stewart strides out last all dressed in white. He seemed particularly loud tonight. At one point he was really pounding on the Iron Cobra. My pant leg was vibrating! I noticed that he and Vittorio would watch each other and seem to do a little game like, "OK, Cosma, let's see what you got." And Vittorio is a trip to watch. He does little dances behind his keyboards and runs back and forth. No broken snares or other malfunctions tonight. Snare stands and water bottles were all in good working order. Giovanni and Eugenio were both in the wings recording the show. The band left the stage after the last song before the encores and I think Gio had the camera aimed towards us and we began chanting, "Giovan-i! Giovan-i!Giovan-i!" spontaneously. It was pretty funny. We were an excited little bunch. They did 2 encores. I'm not sure they were expecting to do the second one. The crowd just didn't leave. We wanted more damnit! So, they came out and gave us more. Stewart was really into it tonight and I was thinking how wonderful it must be to make a living doing what one loves. He is just a joy to watch. Thus ends my Notte Della Taranta experience. Thoroughly fantastico in many ways.

Ciao!!

Thanks for the report, Amy. I'm so glad there was a "Nutterpalooza" in Milan, the birthplace and heart of sc.net. Did Gio get his cake?
Safe travels home.
In Dallas, the only game that really mattered was in the word gamelan.

Yes, it does seem appropriate to have such a great show and end the tour up in Milan.
