Thanks Animal. I'm fine, I live/work nowhere near that mess. So tragic.

NJPerry, I suspect is fine too.
I don't believe he's up in that area.

Right you are, Pluto. I neither work nor live near there. I also commute by car. My wife commutes by Metrorail but not on that line or in that area.

I recall that Conroy also drives. He liekwise doesn' live or I belive work in the area.
SC-There are a few crazy people on this planet. Sure sign of that is that they kinda like my music

I had a few bad moments as two of my very dear friends live in that area and there was some question as to whether one of them might have been involved. But luckily, looks like my non-SC.net peeps are OK as well.

Sheesh. What a tragedy for all involved. I was telling Mr. Dive those trains can build up some serious speed - I remember barreling thru the tunnel toward the Pentagon, where it feels like you're up to 55 or 60 mph at various points.

Yep, accounted for here. I've only taken the Metro to that part of town a handful of times. They're saying this train was deprecated and was past due for brake service. I think they use similar trains in the BART system in the Bay area, so hopefully they're all getting the once over after this. This isn't the first time two trains have collided in this fashion on the Red Line in DC, but this is the highest number of casualties in a single Metro incident. Also, this is why I never sit in the first or last car of any train.
