Blag. Verb (colloquial UK english).

Sorry TD. I tend to forget that some bits of brit english haven't got off their lazy arses and paid a visit to the US yet. Can't think of a snappy US english equivalent. Essentially, getting into somewhere or getting something by unofficial means: pulling strings, quick thinking, or the gift of the gab (i.e. talking your way into something).

So you blagged it by talking your way in. Less deserving souls may have blagged it by being related to Ticketbastard directors. I prefer your variety of blagging.

I'm guessing you may be able to use this new bit of vocabulary when you spill the beans on D-A-O's adventures

It was worth sharing my story , if not just to have learned the word "blag". Thanks for that, Smudge. I guess the equivalent expression in North American lingo would be "fanagle". But I will be using "blag" a lot more from now on. In fact, I think it should be entered into the Koplandik Dictionary. Lil T? Ed. Maximus? Someone should bump that ol' classic.
