Yes, in for sure, have tickets in hand. What's not sure yet is the pub afterwards. We might have to travel home instead of hanging about so that we can go back for the gig that night.

Update for ANDY:

Ok buddy, I just had a nice face to face chat with George S from "The Hour" (great show, youtube it ! he has had Andy on before the tour) and I mentioned this photog gig. He seemed very interested so I forwarded him all the info and links.

There ya go buddy, that's as good as my connections get.

Just trying to help any little bit I can for any of the boys.

Cheers.
BB.

Wow! Bongo knows Strombo! Thanks for raising Andy's cause with George S. That would be great if something panned out. I'm still hoping Andy will do some sort of book signing. If anyone hears info. about such a thing, please let us know here.

BB, speaking of influential CBC types, do you know Gian Gomeshi from the radio show Q? Recently, he's interviewed several luminaries in conjunction with the release of their memoirs. And the interviews were quite cool and often very funny. Wouldn't it rock if Stewart were on that show when his book is launched? SC seems like a natural guest for Q. It's on Serius and does a pod cast, making such an interview accessible to all of Copelandia. And you know, Q broadcasts from downtown Toronto, and if Stewart were in town and all, maybe a little book signing appearance might take place and...

Since you're doing the volunteer publicist stuff for Andy, I thought maybe you could put in a good word for Stewart when the time approaches.

Remember when Stewart was promoting Everyone Stares ? Jian G had to interview him so I provided all my info (albums, books, articles etc) I went down to his place and helped a little with the prep.

I didn't even get to go to it.

Like I said, anything for the boys.

I am also bugging them to interview Dave Matthews, he's here in June.

Cheers.

That is so cool about you prepping Jian for his interview with Stewart. Bummer you couldn't be there. What show was that for? I don't think Q was around back then and I can't remember what show Jian was on before that. Is there any way to access this interview? I'd love to hear it.

About June 6...besides Grace are there any takers for lunch after Andy? Or will I have to dust off my sketch pad again?

Hey LL & other various nutters. Bumping for... it's almost here!

Are you and L Junior heading to see the photos at Yonge/Dundas Square prior to the event at the AGO?
Looks like the AGO thingy starts at 10:30, yes?
Do you want to try to hook up prior to that? or we'll just meet up in Jackman Hall and then hit the Village Idiot afterward?
See you soon.
If I'm holding a beer, some of it is probably going to get on him, you know?

Hey Grace! I was thinking of going to Yonge and Dundas on Friday night to see the photos and catch Luminato's free opening night concert that's being held there. It's Randy Bachman of BTO and The Guess Who. (The Police are one of the most important parts of the sound track of my life, but Randy Bachman is responsible for a good part of the opening credits.) I'm going to be childless but may hook up with a sister or two. I think it's a good idea to see the photo exhibit before the panel discussion. However, 10:30 on a Saturday is plenty early enough for me. If anyone is interested in the Friday night caper, let me know.

As for Saturday, meeting at the AGO sounds good. And I'm still up for The Village Idiot afterwards.

Sameol', I can't stick around downtown for your guy's show because Sporterella is in a local soccer tournament Saturday and I promised her I'd catch her afternoon game. Maybe another time for that, my dear.

I agree on the 10:30 thing, LL. But unfortunately I already have Friday night plans so I'm going to have to try to run through it turbo-charged on Saturday morning. Looks like the train will give me about an hour (assuming no delays - ahem!).
So I'll see you at the AGO. A bientot!

Gonna be cool.

I'm soon off to catch the photo exhibit downtown. I've seen and heard a lot of media coverage for Luminato over the last day or so. One of its main themes this year is the guitar. Apparently, guitars are also the subject of most of the photography on display. It should be interesting.

ETA: About the cameras, Bongo...the AGO, like most art galleries, is usually pretty stickly about that sort of thing. However, the discussion is in a kind of auditorium, so they might not be so strigent. I suggest you check the AGO website.

The photography exhibit was pretty cool. The prints are very large (about the size of bus shelter ads), almost all black and white and are installed right in the public square near the sidewalk. During the Randy Bachman concert people were leaning against them, mostly oblivious to their meaning. Personally, I like when art is so accessible and just part of the city scape like that.
There's one very cool Danny Clinch photo entitled "Andy Summers". It was taken in Buenos Aires at the street tango performance that was captured in shots in Andy's photo gallery on Certifiable. Basically, it's a picture of Andy photographing the dancers and it's a view from behind the dancers. It's cool if you know Andy's shot since it let's you see what's happening behind Andy's camera. The picture shows him at a little outdoor cafe along with his road manager and I believe one of his sons. I think they should have displayed Andy's shot from Certifiable alongside of this one. Maybe that would be a bit corny, but it would allow the average passerby to appreciate Danny's picture more. Danny also had some unusual photos of other musicians.

Andy's photos were all from the last six years or so with a good number of them taken during the reunion tour. They are mostly shots of city streets and hotel rooms, but there is one of a set list on stage taken in Australia.

Ralph Gibson has a lot of pictures of musical instruments and the like minus the musicians. He does intriguing stuff with lines and curves.

I'm now really looking forward to the panel discussion tomorrow.
