OT - Anobody Else Catch Iggy Pop on NPR?

I'm not a big NPR listener, but when I was driving home from work last night, I stumbled across Iggy Pop being interviewed on Terry Gross' Fresh Air show. They played some music from his album Preliminere which was inspired by the novel The Possibility Of An Island by Michel Houellebecq.

Very cool stuff. I love Iggy!

I caught it, and was utterly riveted. His candor is amazing, and I love hearing how his voice has evolved (and how he credits his Qi Gong practice!). I was never that much of an IP & the Stooges fan in the day, but I thought it was an amazing conversation.

One thing he said was that he and the band playing with him have been adding to their repertoire, and singing more songs like "Put A Spell On You". What that means is that since I heard the show on Monday, my consciousness has been haunted by the thoughts of an Iggy Pop-Bryan Ferry sing off!

Here's a link to the show if you missed it and want to listen:

Iggy had a recent important activity here in France for the launch of his new album Preliminaries, very cool one, that was inspired by a French novel.

He gave a private concert at Radio France (I tried to win tickets but was unlucky). Some videos here:

He made a TV show with a lot of duo

Lastly, did you see the news about a reformation of Iggy & The Stooges with James Williamson to play "Raw Power" live ?

It is also written that Ron Asheton left 6 or 7 tracks before his death that will maybe come out.

I wait for a tour !
One day, I'll meet Stewart !

Iggy quietly dropped a big bomb at the very end of the interview - he's talking to guitarist James Williamson about coming back into the "Iggy & The Stooges" fold! It's a real shame Ron Asheton won't be there for that but that is still a version of The Stooges A LOT OF PEOPLE, myself included, would be very excited to see.

Ya, it's gonna be Raw Power lineup with Mike Watt taking Ron's spot on bass, that album being the main material...
