OT: Starz On Demand US Festival 1983

Postby New Zealand Promoter on 29 May 2009 04:00

[quote="P-LOVE"]I'm back after locating a Sony device on ebay and am making a copy this weekend. Everything worked and the quality is pretty good and has the classic grainy and slightly warbly sound of a VHS tape from the 80's, but is definitley watchable.

So how does this work (via personal email?)? I know I have a few interested parties and would like to keep this so I don't break the bank on postal fees, but am more than happy to send a few out and possibly they can circulate from there. Also, each one is made from the original tape so it takes time. In regards to a trade I am always interested in your favorite best quality live recording or demo to add to the collection. We can discuss off line.

I can also include a short interview w/ Martha Quinn and Stewart for the Rythmatist release in 82 that was on MTv if you want it. I can include the Beat and the Heads earlier sets that day if you would like that as well.

By the way P-Love, I and several other nutters here have more than one professional VHS > DVD transfer contact. now that you have successfully digitally archived your tape, would you consider entrusting it to one of us to get a definitive, audio EQ-d transfer with chapter breaks and a classic police dvd menu...? we may be able to get those tracking issues sorted, fully correct the colour and bring the best out of the sound.... it would be worth it for such a gem... (sorry i only discovered this thread today)

I am glad to hear the DVD found its way and is being enjoyed by the community. Yes, now that I have a back up I am comfortable w/ sending the VHS tape out to be professionally transferred.

If someone can make this happen please contact me and we can coordinate.

Thanks,
P-Love

I have the DVD on while I work to listen to.
One World is on.
Man, Ranking Roger looks like he is twelve years old
If I remember correctly, the US Festival was one of the last public performances on the original English Beat.
Have we got touchdown

Please add me to the list! I'd be willing to make some duplicates, too.

I'm talking with two people stateside to see if they have time to take this on. They're both very good encoders, so hopefully one or the other will help out. I expect a response fairly soon. :D

I just got p loves version of this in the mail and was able to watch it. Thanks p love. Even with the time stamp in the middle it is a gem. I loved the bit with R Roger and al the kool echoplex work.
Awesome to hear Stewart jamming on the octobans and lots of vocals to be heard.
