OT--request for good wishes, thoughts, prayers for a friend

I didn't want to put this in the flagiversary thread although it is slightly tourzilla related. I traveled to Vancouver with my good friend Phyllis whom some of you may have met at MSG on 8/7. I came home tonight to a phone message about her husband, Don. He's very sick with bacterial meningitis and was having brain surgery this evening. They are absolutely wonderful people and have been married for more than 40 years. It's partly thanks to Don that I got to Vancouver because he agreed to let us blow a lot of his American Airlines miles for our plane tickets :) Not to mention they are super friends and sometimes I forget they're closer to my mom's age than my own.

If you're a praying person, it's appreciated, or any good and kind thoughts you can think of for these good people. Thanks.

Thanks you guys! So far, so good. He got through surgery okay and is awake, alert and remembers everything and was about to have breakfast. This was an unexpected setback as he'd been feeling better on Wednesday and then started to feel worse again yesterday morning so now the hope is for no more setbacks.

I'm so sorry to hear this, Susan. Phyllis is a lovely person.

Glad to hear there's been some good post-surgical news. I'll be keeping you all in my thoughts and hoping for a continued strong recovery.
Hang in there.
