The Who released "Tommy!"

Forty. Years.

If that doesn't make your life sorta flash before your eyes, well, you're just too damn young!!

OUCH. Yeah, that hurt  .

I noticed that today when I went to listen to BBC Radio 4 (will be available for a week if you want to listen):

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00kfqmb

Nick Maes revisits and celebrates The Who's influential rock-opera Tommy, 40 years on.

Featuring interviews with The Who's lead singer Roger Daltrey; Ken Russell, who directed the 1975 film version; Paul Nicholas, who appeared in the film as Cousin Kevin; and Michael Cerveris, star of the 1993 Broadway musical.

The programme recalls Tommy in its various incarnations and considers its culutral and musical value and significance four decades on.

A Whistledown production for BBC Radio 4.

Phew! Actually I don't remember the release of the Who album. Having said that, the Opera version with the London Symphony orchestra introduced me to both the Who and Winwood, and so forever grateful for that! 8)

Nope, nothin' here either.

I do have the vinyl though. And I saw the touring company with an ex-VJ (yes, *V*J) who was surprisingly good.

My ex-boyfriend took me to see them up in Dayton in 1996, where they performed "Quadrophenia" as part of the concert (and he had 'stepped-up' for third row seats!). That I think was the last No. American Tour w/ John Entwhistle. I have never been a huge Who fan, but that show was fantastic! Alive but too young for the Tommy release, sorta' remember it tho'.......

Wow, it was amazing that Tommy was 20 years released when I saw the Who play it from beginning to end for the 20th anniversary, even harder to believe that was 20 yrs ago!
